Spacious double room in 2-bed flat available till mid-August - and most of the time you'll have it to yourself! All bills included.
Your Room
This is the master bedroom with a double bed and mattress, large wardrobe, set of shelves and bedside table.
The room is airy and spacious. It is north-facing, quiet, and looks out over the communal garden which is shared with the other flats in the block.
Currently, there’s not a desk in the room for working from home, but there is space if you needed it. Or there is a large table in the living room that you’d be welcome to use.
We have spare bedding if you need it :)
(Sorry most of the photos were taken at night - we're going to take some better ones on Monday)
Your Occasional Housemates
We are Joe and Breffni (both 36). Joe is a gardener and formerly an academic and Breffni is a librarian. We recently moved to Northumberland (300 miles away) but come and stay in the smaller bedroom in the flat for a few days every six weeks or so to visit friends or family, remind ourselves about civilisation and public transport.
We’re a gardener and a librarian so you can basically guess our vibe – hiking, real ale, charity shops, making bread etc.. We’re friendly and chilled, happy for a chat but also we’re usually just in London to see people so we’re often out.
Normally this situation makes sense because we let the big room to Joe’s sister. But she’s away travelling until mid-August so the flat is sitting empty. This means realistically you would have the flat to yourself most of the time.
The Flat
We love the flat and only moved away for work. It’s on the top/second floor so no noise from above and has a big sunny south-facing living room. There’s also a bathroom, a kitchen, our little bedroom and obviously your room.
The kitchen has a fridge, freezer, electric oven, gas hobs, a washing machine, table and 2 chairs, and an assortment of kitchen pots and utensils.
The bathroom has a bath, and an above-bath shower.
Everyone who lives in the block is friendly and we know them all by name. It’s mostly families who are there long-term. Access to the garden is from the ground floor through a locked gate, which you’ll have the key to. There’s no lift and the whole building is non-smoking.
The Area
The street is quiet and safe. We are the 1960s carbuncle on a lovely Victorian road where the BBC often do filming (e. g. Motherland).
Acton town centre is just round the corner. It has supermarkets, shops, cafes, a library, a swimming pool, pubs, and parks all within walking distance. There’s a market on Saturday mornings, inc. a dead cheap Polish bakery stall.
The flat is also very well connected:
- we are less than 10 minutes walk to Acton Town Station for the Piccadilly line and District Line.
- 10 minutes walk to South Acton on the Mildmay Overground line (good for Richmond or Hampstead Heath)
- 20 minutes walk to Acton Mainline on the Elizabeth Line
Rent and Bills
The price for the room is £1200 a month for single occupancy, or £1300 for couples.
This includes all bills (council tax, water, gas, electricity, internet). The flat does not have a TV licence so if you need one of these you would need to organise it yourself.
