Bright double room in Islington (King's Cross)

Hi everyone,

We have a double part-furnished bedroom (with its own bathroom) available, and the move-in date is flexible.

House:
We live in a spacious three-floor house on a beautiful street in the Barnsbury area in Islington. There is a big living room and a really nice kitchen which has great natural light, as well as a garden.

We have three bathrooms (a second floor bathroom for your own use), a shared first-floor bathroom with bath tub/shower and an additional downstairs toilet. The entrance hallway is spacious, with a dining table and chairs, and space to fit your bicycle if you have one.

There is also a large, sunny living room – perfect place to watch a movie, relax, play board games, or have some wine with friends.

Room:
The bedroom is quite large, it’s on the second floor which has two bedrooms – yours and the bedroom of our housemate Harvey.

The bedroom has wooden flooring, is South-facing and sunny, and will come largely unfurnished so you can customise it for yourself. The housemate who is moving out plans to leave her fold-out couch and desk, you can coordinate any further specifics about furniture with her.

Housemates:
Deanna (33), and originally from the US. Lived in London for three years and work in finance (previously in impact investing and in international development in Africa and Latin America). Love travel (at-least pre-Covid!), and enjoy yoga, long-distance cycling, dancing salsa, exploring London, and these days – trying to find the best shows on Netflix.

The other housemate is Harvey (30), originally from Cambridge, UK who works in legal recruitment. He enjoys spinning, exploring London, going to pubs and out for dinner with friends, and days out around the countryside in the UK.

Area:
The house is in the heart of beautiful Barnsbury area in Islington. Ten minutes walk to Upper Street with lots of bars, cafes and little shops.

Angel is an 8-10 minute walk, with a large Sainsburys, Waitrose, Mark & Spencers, Boots, lots of bars and restaurants, shopping mall and Vue Cinema.

Walking from our house to Kings Cross takes about 10-12 minutes, there’s a nice path along the canal which takes you straight there. There you’ll find a sizeable Waitrose, a weekend food market, UCL, and the newly opened Coal Drops Yard with plenty of restaurants, bars, cafes, and shops, and summer movies by the canal.

I’ve lived in several places in London but Barnsbury is a favourite as it’s really leafy and quiet but also close to Kings Cross and Angel at the same time. If you are cycling, you can pretty much cycle anywhere from here. It takes about 20 minutes to Oxford Circus by bike.

Nearest tube: We are right in the middle of Angel tube, Kings Cross and Highbury Islington. They all take about 10-15 min walk to our house.

Nearest buses are 153, 91, 259, 17, and 243.
Overground station Caledonian Road & Barnsbury is a 8 min walk.

Financials:
The monthly rent is £875 and generally we pay rent by the 30/31st of each month.

The deposit is £750 (to be paid upfront as a holding deposit to secure the room if you decide to take it).
Utilities average around £110 per month per person (which includes council tax, internet, gas, water, electricity and a fortnightly cleaner).

You:
A professional who is a great combination of friendly, tidy, and sociable.

We are very good at cleaning up after ourselves in the common areas and try to keep the house clean and comfortable.

We are looking for someone down to earth, easy going who is happy to grab a coffee together or go out for a pint from time to time. We’re also very respectful of working schedules and personal time, given everyone gets busy on occasion.
