Hi
We have a room in our shared house coming available in mid-April.
It's a double room with two windows looking out over a quiet residential street. Hilly Fields park is at the top of the road.
The house isn't a palace, it's creaky and peculiar and quite compact but it's a home and it's lived in.
There are two others living here, me- Michael, and John. I'm creative, I paint, and I'm a musician with many instruments, including a drum kit, but don't worry - it's set up for quiet practice! Also, some guitars , amps, and keyboards. Other interests are current affairs, history, sociology, and left wing politics.
John works in retail in town and gets back late, he keeps himself to himself but is a big music fan and he enjoys football- a lot. He also enjoys the natural world, walks and fishing.
I have a cat, Willow. She's getting old now, a tiny little thing.
We are ideally looking for someone who can clean up after themselves and consider others. We don't eat or cook together or have house nights at the pub or anything like that, we are completely independent in that regard but come together in terms of keeping the house clean and organised and on top of things.
There is a large communal garden at the back, which is great in the summer. A bathroom and a second small w. c.
The room will be unfurnished and empty, and it may need a little work after the current occupant leaves. It has a washbasin but most other occupants have covered it and used the space it occupies for storage space. I'm currently giving the place a paint and spruce up when I can and will paint the room, but for viewings, one may need to use their imagination a bit.
The rent is 550 and there are bills. Gas and electricity are top up, and we make a note when we top them up to keep it even. Then there is council tax and water, which we all contribute to when we can to stay on top of those too. Then internet. It's a shared tenancy, and the new tenant will be named on the tenancy agreement sometime after moving in.
We are open to anyone, what you do for a living isn't important to us as much as one's willingness to contribute to the running and cleaning of the house and sharing responsibilities, and the rent can be paid on time and consistently, kindness and friendliness is essential. Just normal, basic stuff. We aren't very young anymore, it's not really a party house, more of a safe place to call home. Of course, we all have lives, so it's fine to have partners and friends over but the room itself isn't available for couples, mainly due to space and the added inevitable complications of financial equity. It isn't a non smoking house, we all do, so it's totally fine if you do too.
It's crucial to understand its not a house with separate contracts for each room. There is one contract- "joint and several", so, an invitation to a quite grown up house where we are all collectively responsible for rent and bills and upkeep which has to be fair and equitable for everyone. Really looking for someone open to contributing to the house in a positive way.
If you'd be interested in coming over for a look at the place and a chat get in touch.
