Hi everyone!
I’m looking for someone to take over my room, since I’m moving out by the end of February. It’s a furnished double room and it includes all pieces of furniture seen in the picture (bed base, mattress, desk, wardrobes, chair, drawers). Rent is 850 GBP, bills included. The ideal move-in date would be March 1st, but a later date would work if you’re willing to pay the rent for the whole (or most of) the month.
On the room
The room is roughly 2.5m x 3.5m, it is located on the groundfloor, and has three huge windows with a view to the backyard. The windows face to the West, so you’ll never lack natural light in the afternoon (provided there is natural light outside ;)). There is only a very narrow, almost non-transited street behind the house, so the room is very quiet at night.
On the house
The house has 5 bedrooms – 2 in the groundfloor and 3 in the first floor. We have 2 full-bathrooms (one in each floor), kitchen, front yard and back yard. There are shared pots, pans, and cuttlery, but you could bring your own, of course. There’s a washing machine, but not tumble dryer or dish washer. The tumble dryer is not really needed though, since in the summer you can simply hang your clothes outside and in the colder seasons you can use the tumble dryers in a laundrette which is maybe 30 seconds away from the house door.
Life in the house share
You would live with 3 professionals and 1 PhD student (Urban studies, UCL) between 25 and 40. There is little to no social life in the flat, so this house is more for people who are just looking for a quiet flat where they can have privacy. In principle, however, some flatmates are open to grab coffee or dinner every now and then. Life in the house is really easy going, everybody is quite busy with work/uni, so they leave somewhat early, come back in the evening and then simply chill in their rooms. It works great if you spend most of your time outside and just come back home to sleep (as I did). Also, at least 2 flatmates travel quite often so it is actually rare to have a week where everyone is around.
Public transport and shopping
Buses to central and East London run on Westferry road, just a few meters from the house door. Canary Wharf is only 10 minutes away by foot (Elizabeth line maybe 15, Jubilee line 10). Crossharbour DLR is also roughly 10 mins away by foot. There are several Santander Cycle stations a few meters from the house door.
There are several convenience stores, small restaurants, a laundrette and a pub just a few meters away from the house door. There are a couple of Tesco Express a few blocks away. The ASDA Isle of dogs is maybe 15 mins away by foot, but it is by far the most affordable supermarket in the area, so the walk is definitely worth it.

Let me know if you’re interested, I’ll do viewings on Wednesday 25.02 and Thursday 26.02. If you want to take the room, you will have to pay a 300 GBP holding deposit to the landlady, besides sending her your ID, Right to Rent, and proof of income. She will be the one deciding who will take the room. The landlady is actually quite approachable and responsive, often fixing problems (defective microwave, clogged drains, etc.) within 1 or 2 days of reporting it. I think this is one of the best aspects of the house, considering how unconsiderate landlords or agencies in London can be.
