Double room in friendly house (with Cat) - 1st Feb

Ad ref# 14979154

We have a large double room in a friendly, professional house share. We are a mixture of nations, cultures, and interests. With Portuguese, Spanish, English and French speakers living and sharing a life in East London.

The house is on a quiet road which is somewhat of a cul-de-sac. The street has a very communal vibe and we even have a street party during non-covid times.

We have a mixture of interests and hobbies, ranging from going to galleries, art house cinema trips, climbing, Tag Rugby, shooting and exhibiting 35mm film, playing guitar, learning piano, bike rides that include picnics and cocktails, or longer rides that involve tents and large hills, one of our house mates even organises a charity cinema event called Cine-Brazil (in Covid we have hosted digital watch parties)

The room is a South/South Easternly facing, double room on the 1st floor of the house. It has 2 tall windows which let in lots of direct and natural sunlight (when..... or if it's sunny in the UK) which make it ideal for plants or someone who rises a little earlier for their coffee. The room has a couple of inbuilt cupboards and comes with a chest of drawers and some shelving. The current tenant has a floor bed but there should be a frame in the basement. So the room is considered "partially furnished". Current pictures don't have a desk in it, but there is definitely space for it in the room.

You'll be living with 5 others (two men and three women). Sounds like a lot but the house is pretty big so we all fit. We have recently adopted a cat called Splodge. He's only been with us a short while but he already fits in and is a very loving creature. Please note he is a Domestic Long Hair so anyone with allergies may wish to stop reading now, sorry, even though he doesn't pay rent (such privileged trustafarians these damn cats) we won't be in a position to kick him out on account of a bad reaction. So please take some time to think about whether living with a cat is suited to you.

We all have a range of occupations from international journalism, social media for a charity, work in TV & Film as a Prop manager, Tate Britain/Modern Shop Assistant (woo store and ticket discount) and most recently a role at the BFI (free screening invites are a new bonus to the activity list).

Some of us also have second jobs in events and live performance. There has always been an artistic and creative vibe to the house with invites to events and theatre shows from previous tenants still a part of our social lives (when permitted).

We are respectful of each other’s lives but we hang out when we can and have a couple drinks with the occasional large themed meal; there's a really great dynamic here.

Occasional parties which are always excellent, but it's not a party house. (We were very excited to be able to have a large one again a while back)

We have a south facing garden and patio area which is lovely in the warmer months and still gets some light in Winter. We are growing vegies and flowers with ambitions to grow more bits too. With space out the front for more planters and to be creative with.

5 minutes from Clapton Overground Station, supermarkets and world food store and most importantly the local pubs are The Crooked Billet and The Clapton Hart; 18 minutes to Stoke Newington, 7 minutes to Hackney Downs Park. 30 mins cycle from central London along a nice route (Quiet Way number 2).

Rear entrance to the garden so you can bring your bike through where we have secure bike parking. All of us cycle to get around.

The deposit is £390

£590 rent per month (move in date is the 1st Feb)

The total cost including bills varies from month to month of course, depending on energy usage or bits we need for the house, due to the current fuel crisis and cost increase, bills are coming to around 90-£100pm they were previously £70-80. Hopefully the government does something to bring them back down again.

We have a cleaner who comes every week for the shared spaces (this is included in the bills), but we all work to keep it clean and tidy in between their visits. We'd love someone who is tidy and values having a clean space.

Queer friendly and socially / environmentally conscientious, so Tories please swipe left.

Please send us a message telling us a bit more about yourself - what you do, what you're into, what you're like to live with, what you're hoping for. We'll then arrange a viewing.

Sorry but we can't accept any other cats or dogs into the house.
