I am looking for a housemate to move into my beautiful flat in Sydenham/Crystal Palace. The flat is a recently refurbished top floor and loft conversion of a Victorian property. It has a striking design with a mezzanine and skylights, so it's filled with light at all times of the year. It's on a road bordering Crystal Palace Park, with lots of trees in the vicinity.
The Room:
The room is available furnished with a double bed, a brand new desk (perfect for working from home!) and a side table. It contains plenty of in-built storage including a wardrobe, some shelving, and a deeper cupboard for larger items. It has just been re-decorated so it's looking shiny and new!
Living / Dining Room:
The living room is very spacious and contains comfy sofas as well as floor to ceiling bookshelves and a wall-mounted TV. It extends into a dining area at the opposite end, and, in case you're a pianist, there's a Clavinova too.
Kitchen:
The kitchen benefits from lots of sunlight during the day. It is equipped with a washing machine, dishwasher, oven, microwave, gas hob, espresso machine and a very large fridge which is excellent for sharing.
Upstairs living space:
Upstairs, there is a cosy living space which contains a daybed – the perfect spot for reading or (since it folds out to a double bed) for visiting guests.
Cloakroom and bathroom:
There is one cloakroom containing a w. c. and sink, and there is also a bathroom containing another w. c., a sink, a bath and a shower.
The local area:
The flat is very well situated – cross over the road and you’re in Crystal Palace Park, which amongst other things (including Victorian dinosaurs!), contains the National Sports Centre complete with a swimming pool, tennis courts and a gym. A few minutes to the rear of the flat is also Sydenham Wells Park. Both parks have been invaluable during lockdown! Transport links to London Bridge, Victoria and East London are great, with Penge West, Penge East and Sydenham within close walking distance (c.15 mins). Crystal Palace station is also accessible through the park, and local buses go to Brixton, Peckham etc. If you have a car, there is tons of free parking around. Crystal Palace itself has lots of lovely restaurants, pubs, coffee shops and independent shops (including an excellent bookshop). There is also a large Sainsbury’s.
Other details:
Bills include: council tax, water, gas and electricity, a cleaner every other week, and high speed broadband.
A bit about me:
I am in my mid thirties. I teach Classics in a secondary school. I love reading, cooking, drawing, singing, keeping fit and generally doing artsy things. In my spare time I run a choir. I would say this is definitely more of a home than a house – I have lived here for seven years and put a lot of love into it! I’d like to live with a female professional – ideally someone who is sociable and up for the occasional house dinner together. I am flexible on the move in date, as for me it's more important to find a good fit.
I look forward to hearing from you!
