Would you like to be part of an innovative social living experience which offers affordability through shared living and tackles both rising living costs and social isolation?
This room is offered as part of a Homeshare UK arrangement which offers you affordable accommodation in a friendly home and in exchange for that we ask you to provide 10 hours per week of help to the householder, typically an older person in need.
Homeshare UK are running a pilot project to match social housing tenants who have a spare room and some support needs (Householders) with students or professionals who want to live socially at a reduced cost (Homesharers).
The People
Our Householder is a lovely lady in her early 60’s – she’s incredibly open, friendly and independent and lives just 5 minutes walk from Crystal Palace train station with her dog. She enjoys seeing her family and friends and spends her time trying out new creative ideas, cooking and going for walks.
She is looking for a good natured person who can help with shopping, gardening and navigating new technology! Pets may be welcome if they get on with the Householders pet Jack Russell.
The ideal Homesharer will be an animal lover who enjoys a chat and a laugh and is open to the idea of sharing their time in this innovative way. Ideally the sharer will be studying or working outside of the home on some days and should have some free time during their evenings or weekends to offer support and company.
The Property and Room
The property is a three bedroom maisonette with a front and a back garden and free on street parking. It is located in a friendly neighbourhood within walking distance to shops and cafes and Crystal Palace train station which has regular trains going to central London, Brighton and Portsmouth.
The room available is a double bedroom which WILL be furnished with double bed and drawers and access to a shared bathroom, downstairs WC, kitchen, lounge and garden.
The Homeshare Agreement
As part of this low cost living arrangement you would give just 10 hours of your time each week in lieu of rent. On an average week, you’ll spend the 10 hours accompanying the Householder to the supermarket, doing a spot of gardening, or simply chatting and sharing a meal. The Householder is very active and independent and no personal care is expected by the Homesharer.
As part of this social housing pilot project we are looking for a Homesharer for a minimum of 12 months. After this time, if the Homeshare is working out it may be extended with the agreement of both parties, or if not, we can help you find another Homeshare match.
This is a position advertised on behalf of the Householder. Homeshare UK carry out reference checks on both parties and an enhanced DBS check on Homesharers prior to introducing you to each other. We have various policies in place to allow shares to take place and the safety of both parties is our primary priority.
