Bright, quiet double loft room in Dalston

The double loft bedroom

We have a small but comfortable double loft room available in a uniqye Victorian terrace house in the heart of Dalston. We're looking for a man, woman or non-binary person, aged 30-45, to move in and join this very comfortable home. I'm moving out to live with an elderly relative who needs support.

The bedroom is large enough for a double bed, bedside table and some other furniture (I currently have a small wardrobe and a wooden chest). There are built in book shelves and, being in the loft, the room has exclusive access to a large storage space.

The room has two large, modern skylights that let in a lot of light. The skylights also have blackout blinds, which are really effective. Being in the top of the house, the room is very quiet and private, with minimal sounds from the street below. There is a toilet with sink right outside the bedroom, which is generally only used by two of the four housemates.

The house has a good-sized living room, a dining room, a bathroom, a good-sized kitchen and a patio garden.

The living room has a futon (useful for guests staying) and bookshelf space. The bathroom has a bath and a power-shower with decent, consistent pressure.

The kitchen has a washing machine, dishwasher, plenty of cupboard space, a four ring gas burner, oven, grill and the usual appliances, though not a microwave. It opens directly onto the garden through French doors, which is really lovely in the warm summer weather and great for barbecues.

The house itself is an old Victorian mill house, built in the late 1800s, on a quiet, residential street (it's especially quiet for Dalston) just off Shacklewell Lane. The house is very close to Hackney Downs (about five minutes walk) as well as Kingsland Road (lot of shops, bars, restaurants, cafes and bus routes), Dalston Junction and Dalston Kingsland Overground stations.

You'll be living with one man and two women, who work full-time in: political campaigning and activism; the tech sector, and the property sector. Generally, the house is a quiet, comfortable home and not a party house, though we do have friends round for dinner pretty regularly. We all like to be respectful of each other's space and comfort and we all get on well, and like to chat and hang out in the kitchen. We're all pretty left-leaning and progressive, and the house is absolutely LGBTQ-friendly.

On top of the rent, bills come to around £60 a month on average and we have a cleaner who comes every two weeks who we take turns to pay for, so that's £25 every eight weeks. We have a private landlord, not an agency, and they are pretty responsive and reliable. They've just replaced the boiler and all of the radiators, so our heating system should be as efficient as it can be.
