Hi! We're two friends who've known each other for years, in search of a third person for our flat!
The room is $950 a month, including utilities. No deposit needed.
The place is huge. We have:
* a large kitchen
* your huge bedroom: 4.2 x 3.2 meters (13.6 square meters), with a double bed, under-bed storage, a chair (but no desk for some reason), a clothes railing, and a bedside table
* Mark's bedroom
* Ioanna's bedroom, which was formerly the living room
* An additional small bedroom that we haven't figured out what to do with, you can help decide :)
* A downstairs toilet
* An upstairs toilet + shower
* Several closets and some space under the stairs - there should be plenty of room for your stuff
We also have a big backyard and a small garden on the front and side of the building. The house is an end terrace, meaning that we only share one wall with another building.
The building is a bit creaky - the floors are painted wood, which splinter occasionally, so a rug might be in order, and the kitchen table is wobbly. It's also pretty drafty, which may be a problem in the winter. But we're lovely roommates, and we bring warmth to the flat that no furniture can provide :)
We're on the boundary of Walworth, Bermondsey and Elephant & Castle. We're on a quiet road off of a major street with lots of shops and restaurants, and not far from an industrial park and a few mega stores like Tesco and Asda. The tube is a bit of a hike - 25 mins to Borough (Northern) or Elephant & Castle (Northern and Bakerloo), or 30 minutes to Bermondsey (Jubilee) or London Bridge (Northern and Jubilee). Because we live off a major road, we have a lot of bus connections, however. We're also 5 minutes away from beautiful Burgess Park.
We moved in a month ago, but our third flatmate had to move out. That's where you come in!
Mark: I'm a cis 38-year-old programmer at Google. I moved to London from the US 6 years ago, and I love it here. I like walking, including the 50-minute commute to my office in Holborn, where I work 5 days a week. I also like reading, listening to music, going out with friends, and going clubbing. I'm very friendly and sociable, and hope to make a friend of my new roomie :)
Ioanna: I'm a queer 26-year-old bartender from northern Greece. My shifts change, so I may be around in the mornings or the evenings. I love volleyball, and I play for a team in Division 2. I play guitar. I cook sometimes (Mark doesn't). I like having people over, and I too like going clubbing. But I also like a night in watching a movie.
You: We're hoping you'll also be a friendly and sociable person. Due to past problems, Ioanna would prefer if you were either female or queer.
You'll have to pass some background and income checks with our agency Dexters, including references from work and your previous housing. We'll cover the fee to transfer you to the lease.
The contract ends 21 March 2025. If you need to stay shorter than that, we'd like at least 3 months minimum, given the toil finding new tenants involves, and 2 weeks' notice so we can find a new person. The room is empty, so you can move in whenever!
We can show the apartment during the day or after work, though because we have opposite work schedules, we'll arrange a video chat with the other flatmate. Also happy to have a chat/video tour. Let us know your schedule and we'll work something out!
Thanks, and good luck flatsearching 😀
