After a little while I am moving out of this fab flat to move in with my Boyfriend and am so sad to be leaving the amazing Sabrina and this beautiful flat :(
The flat has lots of character and unique features. The landlords are wonderful, very responsive, and have done it up so it really feels like a lovely home. Bills come to around £90 a month including Council Tax, Water, Energy and Broadband.
We're right in the heart of it, with so many bars, restaurants and great coffee shops nearby that it's hard to resist being out a lot, but the location also means friends are usually happy to visit for cheaper nights in.
It's about 4mins walk to Old Street, 7mins to Hoxton Square, 10mins to Liverpool Street and Shoreditch High Street Stations, 20mins to Regents Canal on the Kingsland Road (via an amazing number of Vietnamese restaurants and funky bars) and 25mins South to the river.
It has everything you need, including a sitting room with a lovely old dining table and chairs, comfy sofa and chaise lounge by the window. The windows are big so it gets lots of light too.
Sabrina has a piano in there too, so will often sing to you :)
I love cooking and it took a little while to adapt to the tiny kitchen, but now I actually find it easier as everything is within reach. There is no freezer or microwave, there simply isn't room, but it actually means the food we cook is much more fresh.
There's a little park (you can probs see in Google Maps if you search between Paul Street, Luke Street and Mark Street) that we consider our own garden, though during the day lots of office workers take it over for lunch. We also have a large bike storage space in the courtyard between the blocks we're in, it's really secure so if you're a cyclist that might appeal.
Your room is the smaller of the two, but very charming with a french style cupboard and chest of drawers. The bed is a bespoke design to fit the room adding more character. Our landlords recently put a new mattress on it to make it more comfortable, and there’s storage beneath it.
We are looking someone who will consider the flat a home, a place to settle and relax, but also who's happy having friends round and joining in with my friends too. The location means it's often social, and friends do pop in, but quiet nights chilling on the sofa with hot chocolate / red wine / gin are regular occurrences too.
Sabrina works locally in a tech startup (if you want a nose it’s cocoon. life) but she has been in the area and very much involved in that community for about 5-6 years. She sometimes work from home, usually with a teapot close at hand, but also travels a bit with work. She is often pretty busy so it always nice coming home to a tidy flat and being able to hang out with a friendly housemate / pal. The flat is a welcoming place, it only feels like home if you’re friends are welcome to come round, so it’s cool to have people over (I do) but bear in mind the flat is a little small for big blow out parties (though at New Years Eve we had something resembling that!).
Oh, and the door knocker is a squirrel! :-)
