The best things about our flat are: it's Victorian, it has character, it's calm and harmonious, we like each other, we are friendly, we have no horrible carpet, we get loads of natural light. It's...nice. We are stupidly easy to live with. We don't kill people. Honestly.
We are both 37 and female, not bothered what gender you are as long as you're lovely like us and wipe your crumbs up and like a chat.
Our living room is our communal sanctuary. Not all about the telly (def not football :-)) - we like putting on some decent tunes, chattering, having a few beers over a game of Scrabble, watching a quirky film or spoof, maybe having a dance. Hell why not. We're pretty tame indoors...no crazy wild shit but might be found having a very sedate ‘after party’ Sunday on the sofa with a couple of mates every few weeks.
We’re looking for someone considerate who will generally want to contribute to some harmonious living. Or let off steam now and then. Musical instruments are welcome (except maybe drum kits ;-)) and community minded people with a social conscience, liberal views or creative ‘passions’ are positively embraced :-) We can’t smoke in the flat so crack pipes are prohibited (sorry ;-), as are cigarettes. Especially as one of us is struggling to quit as we speak...
One of us is a freelance writer/editor (of sorts) who is at home sometimes during the day, and the other nobly and boldly works full-time for the NHS. Things we like: music (psychedlic, dance, 60s/70s rock, 80s, indie, funk, soul, reggae type stuff), meditation & yoga, history, travel, art, theatre, gigs, painting, playing guitar, crosswords, games, all sorts of books, cycling, going to the wondrous local Whirled Cinema, festivals and camping and other such jollities. Things we are not keen on: we are very difficult to offend but the Daily Mail would be one such thing to irk...and sport...but we are extremely easygoing, upbeat and like a heavy dose of humour in our lives.
The room:
Is about 6ft x 12ft, with real wooden floors and white walls, loads of sunlight throughout the day, nice view of the street, and character. There is a double bed and small chest of drawers. And a bit of storage space you can have just outside the room (there's a large area), or even put a wardrobe there. Plus you can put stuff in the drawers and on shelves in the living room.
Bills:
Elec, gas, water, Sky, broadband and council tax come to about £60 a month. There are no agency fees as we deal directly with our very nice and reasonable landlord. Deposit is 1. 5 month's rent.
The house location/area:
Literally two mins walk from Loughborough Junction overground station which is ridiculously handy as it takes you to the South Bank (Blackfriars) in 10 mins and through the City to St Pancras and Kentish Town really quickly without faffing with the tube. It's also 15 mins walk to Brixton tube or Denmark Hill station. You can also walk to Camberwell in 10 mins or the lovely Ruskin or Myatts Fields Park in 5 mins, Brockwell Park is about a 20 min skip. We have two wicked local pubs (The Sun & The Cambria) and a cool little private members' cinema club 5 mins stroll away, plus a very handy grocery, supermarket and takeaways (including niiiiiice jerk chicken) 2 mins hop away on Coldharbour Lane. There are some community gardens 20 metres toddle round the corner from our house, which are under development and are going to be like our back yard in the summer :-) There is loads of community work going on in the area by local peeps making Loughborough Junction a lot more lovable. Also it is a gentrification-free zone unlike the silly-priced centre of Brixton.
Thanks for listening. Give us a shout.
