The room: Cosy and light-filled room. It currently has a single bed but there is room for a double bed. My current flatmate can leave the single bed and/or wardrobe for free if you would like to use them; if not we will move them out.
Me: Hi! I’m Jo (she/her), 31. I enjoy cooking, going out dancing, books, cycling, various arts and crafts, the sauna, art galleries and lefty/queer organising. I work for a charity and mainly work from home, which you are also obvs welcome to do! I like to keep communal areas tidy and clean but not to the extent that you can’t leave books around etc. It’s not a party flat but I like having people round for dinner and am happy for you to invite people over. I would love a friendly vibe in the flat where we can watch tv together, share the odd meal etc. I am mostly vegan and would prefer a vegan/vegetarian housemate, but this isn't a dealbreaker.
Location: Perfect spot in Peckham! The flat is on a quiet residential road just off Peckham Road, a 12 min walk from Peckham Rye station. Rye Lane and its many delights, Peckham Library and leisure centre, Bellenden Road, Lidl, and South London Gallery are all within 10 mins walk. Burgess Park, Peckham Rye common and Camberwell all within 20 mins walk. There is a bus stop just 2 mins round the corner; you can easily get the overground into east London and there are buses to Oval or Vauxhall to get on the tube in about 20 mins.
Tenancy: Rolling monthly contract, no end date. You will be on the contract.
Access info: This is a first floor flat. There is step free access into the building, a quite heavy front door then 17 steps up to the flat, no lift. There are no stairs within the flat. There is a buzzer to let people in. The bathroom has a shower/bath combo. No smoking indoors, and no furry pets as I am sadly allergic.
Cars and bikes: There is bike storage in the carpark but it’s not very secure so I keep my bike in the hall. If you also have a bike then we can work something out. If you have a car you can rent a space in the carpark for £250 a year.
Landlord and logistics: The lettings agency deals with references for our landlord – these will include details of residential and employment history and an identity check with photo ID. He accepts benefits subject to affordability checks. In general we deal directly with the landlord, who is very responsive and helpful with fixing things.
