Double room on a maisonette flat, with plenty of natural light.
ABOUT THE FLAT
The flat overlooks Shadwell basin. The kitchen and living room are south-facing and bathed in light from big windows and balconies that open over the water. The kitchen and living room are a good size and are separate, but connected, rooms and there is a balcony off the living room. This makes the shared areas a pleasant set of spaces to hang out in, but means that it's not crowded if people are cooking in the kitchen, hanging around the dining table, sat on the balcony and chilling on the sofa watching TV.
One of the rooms has an en-suite, meaning this room shares a family bathroom with 2 others.
Please note that there are stairs to get up to the flat (4th floor, worth it for the view) and there is not a lift.
We split bills on top of the rent. Bills are currently £87 each and include water, electric, tv license, internet and council tax.
THE AREA
Shadwell Basin is a random body of water left over/redeveloped from when they used to build ships here. It's a lesser-known cousin to Tabaco/St Katherine's/Limehouse docks. Being on the water is lovely, and sitting out looking over the basin is a great way to relax and not feel in the middle of a huge city! The balcony is a south-facing sun-trap. It also means that whilst the living areas have big widows, we are not overlooked.
Shadwell itself has basic shops, and there is an Iceland/Tesco metro etc. In the other direction, Wapping has coffee shops, pubs and restaurants. It's a 15/20 minute walk to a Sainsbury's superstore or Waitrose, depending on the direction you head in.
We're a short walk (5-7 mins depending on the crossing) to Shadwell overground/DLR station. Shadwell is very well connected, but because we don't have the tube people often don't know this! It's 1 stop to Bank or you can quickly head up to Whitechapel/down to Canada Water to transfer onwards. We are also handy for Canary Wharf.
2 flatmates currently walk to work in London Bridge/Southwark.
FLATMATES
We are a friendly but chilled flat that enjoy each-others company but live our own lives. You would be sharing with Matt and Beth - whom I can vouch for as good people and considerate flatmates. They'd all be keen to meet you before you move in, as having a good vibe in the flat is important to us all. There's also a new flatmate moving in from July, who we will make sure is just as nice!
PRACTICALITIES
I am looking for someone to take my room from August. I can be a little bit flexible on dates, but need to be out by the 10th. In August those staying will be signing a year-long tenancy agreement and you would sign with them. I've been in this flat for 3 years, it's great and the only reason I'm leaving is because I'm moving to a place of my own.
