Looking for a spacious, quiet place to live in South London? Want to share with older flatmates and live somewhere that feels more like a home?
I'm moving abroad for a year so my serene, garden-facing room is available to sublet. Dates are somewhat flexible in that if you need to move in a bit later (i. e. January), or stay a month or two longer, then that is doable.
The flat is spacious and clean and located on a quiet residential street near Streatham Hill railway station. We have an excellent relationship with the landlord and he is aware I will be subletting.
SEEKING
*Anyone who enjoys living in an adult household, looking after the space and treating it like a home. Current flatmates are a good mix of independent and sociable, and the flatshare dynamic works because we communicate well and have compatible interests and routines. *Vegetarians welcome as long as you don’t mind living with omnivores.
*Outside smoking ok
*No pets, unfortunately
CURRENT FLATMATES
You would be sharing with two lovely professional ladies in their 30s and 40s, who are mostly working from home because of covid. They spent all of lockdown cooking and baking, and enjoy the occasional dinner party, bbq, tv night, pub quiz, etc. In non-pandemic times, they are keen travellers.
CLEANER
We like to keep a clean, organised home and so have a weekly cleaner who helps with this, coming to approx £48 a month each. This is not included in the rent.
TWO GARDENS
We have a garden and a vegetable patch next to it. This year we grew tomatoes, beans, peppers, Swiss chard, beetroot, potatoes, and lots of herbs. If you like gardening (or weeding, let’s be honest) then you're in luck!
THE BEDROOM
Double bed
Wardrobe
Drawers x 2
Bay window overlooking back garden
THE HOUSE
3 bedrooms in total, incl the one for sublet
One shower (no bathtub, sadly)
Two toilets
Separate kitchen with cooker, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, freezer etc
Separate living room/dining space
Wood laminate floors
Two skylights
Fast wireless broadband
THE AREA:
Streatham Hill is an up-and-coming area with lots of families and a growing professional population. This means we have hipstery cafes and bicycle shops on the high street.
M&S, Co-op, Tesco, Sainsbury's, and Lidl within 10-15 min walk, plus some great little independent shops.
Fitness First, Virgin Active, and The Gym are nearby, as well as tennis courts right down the street (cheap tennis lessons!)
20 min walk to Brockwell Park, 25 min walk to Tooting Bec Common
TRAVEL
10 min to Clapham Junction
18 min to Victoria
Brixton tube station is 15 min away by bus
Balham tube station 4 min by train or 25 min walk
20 min walk to Tulse Hill station
Free on-street parking
**NB— we currently don’t have any more inside bike storage. There’s potential for other bike-securing solutions, but it hasn’t been sorted out quite yet.
If interested, please get in touch and tell us a little about yourself, e. g. work schedule, interests, etc.
Thanks!
