Access info: We are on the top floor of a 1960s block of flats with no lift, unfortunately. There are 3 flights of stairs- 44 steps to the front door and 14 steps within the flat. There is a fob entry to the main door for the block with a camera, we have a phone buzzer system with a screen. We are mostly a fragrance free home- very occasional incense stick situation.

We are a friendly, chatty house that is also quite independent, we cook for each other a couple of times a week and then watch a film/ play cards/ listen to a podcast together etc. We do a big shop at Lidl every couple of weeks and share that; I really never want to have a ˜which one of you finished my peanut butter’ conversation in the flat. We love to have people over for dinners, arty afternoons and when the world allows the occasional party. We’re proactive about cleaning, share chores evenly, prioritise acts of kindness (like folding each others washing), being considerate and good communication (we have a regular house-stuff check in meeting to have a place to air stuff early).

Me (white, cis, queer/lesbian 35): I’m an artist and work part-time as a high femme secretary. I like bassline, bush-craft, hiking, the golden age of musicals, films, trying to perfect a simple tomato sauce, sci-fi esp Octavia Butler and Ursula Le Guin, critical theory, art, politics, all sports and all games. I’m an ambivert, so I like for my home to be a sanctuary and place to recharge, but also a place to have fun and with a chosen family feel.

Walthamstow Central tube is a 15 minute walk, Wood Street station is 10 mins, there is also the 212 bus from Walthamstow Central station that takes you to Shernhall Street just at the end of the road.

Covid awareness and good practice is important to us, unless vaccinated/immune, we’d like someone who adheres pretty closely to the rules and for us to navigate the pandemic together with mutual consent.
