Flat: Top floor 2 bed flat overlooking the Dalry cemetery. The flat is fully furnished and rooms a good size. Although on a somewhat busy street I find it quiet and easy to study, relax, etc. Being a top floor flat it gets tons of light but you do have to climb quite a few stairs. The kitchen has been stocked with everything one would need to cook, since I love to cook. Bedroom comes with a double bed, wardrobe, and 2 bedside tables.
Neighborhood: I myself was apprehensive about Dalry and was looking originally toward Bruntsfield and Morningside, but have since come to love it thus why I'm looking for a flatmate instead of a smaller flat. There is a Lidle and a co-op within 5 minute walk, Diggers pub, great pizza and Italian food, and Chinese. The water of Leith is also very close and I go there often for a run with my dog. Downtown is a 20 minute walk through Haymarket. Morningside and Bruntsfield is about a 15 min walk. I walk to UoE daily and it takes me about 30 minutes, otherwise you can bus it we have a stop outside the front door.
Me: I'm a woman and in my 30's, getting my PhD at UoE. I'm originally from California in the States and am still getting to know and love Edinburgh. I'm a non-smoker, I do drink, I like to read, run, travel, do yoga, hike, cook, spend time with friends. I'm fairly laid back, easy to get along with, and like a good laugh.
You: I'm looking for someone with a little maturity (doesn't have to be in years), and who is respectful, and clean. I would prefer a woman but I would consider anyone if they seemed right. As long as you pay the rent I don't care if you're a student or a professional. Since it's a 2 bed flat it's fairly certain we'll have to interact on a regular basis, because of this, I'd like someone who like me doesn't take themselves to seriously, knows how to have a good laugh, and is generally a nice person. I'm not opposed to having friends over, however, I'm not looking to cultivate a party house and I cannot tolerate tobacco smoke in the flat.
The dog: So this apartment comes with a ready made new best friend, my dog "Kitty" (I know it's confusing). Kitty is a wire haired Parsons Jack Russell (think Tin Tin's dog Snowy, or Wishbone) she loves making friends and getting cuddles, so if you've alway wanted a dog but are too busy or don't want the responsibility this may be just the opportunity, however, if you don't like dogs this IS NOT the flat share for you.
