Hello! My current flatmate is moving out of their double room on the 21st March, so I'm looking for a new friend to move in anytime between the 22nd and the 1st April. If you move in before the 1st April then you will need to pay that portion of the month's rent and bills to the outgoing tenant.
About the flat: located on the Pleasance, pretty much in the middle of Newington. Currently we pay around £780 each a month for rent and bills, council tax band B. There's a £475 deposit, secured by Letting Protection Services Scotland. The rent is currently £626.08 p/m each. The flat gets lots of natural light, has lovely wooden floors, and a huge, private back green shared with surrounding tenements. The room is facing the back green so very quiet, and it gets all the sunlight. It's a decent size but not massive, so if you’re looking for a big room this isn't the one. The flat is 5 min walk away from Holyrood Park and George Square, University of Edinburgh, and 10 mins from the city centre.
About me: 34 year old professional working at the University of Edinburgh. Easy-going, animal lover extraordinaire, music and book fanatic. I’m clean and conscientious, respectful of people’s space, and non-judgmental. Not a party animal (anymore) but sociable and enjoy the odd night in the pub or having friends round for a chill evening in and a film. I love to cook (and eat, obvs), walk, sleep in, go to choir, watch crap TV dramas, and sing along poorly yet enthusiastically to 80s pop anthems. I have a three year old cat called Max who is very friendly, albeit a bit of a furry menace. He's a rescue and not good with other animals so I can't consider pets. LGBTQ+.
About you: I’m looking for someone who is calm, mature, tidy, respectful of other’s space, and happy to contribute to chores and flat admin. It’s really important to me that you are able to communicate openly, especially regarding any flat issues that may arise. I would prefer another professional, but will consider PhD students on the understanding that we will still split the council tax. You do your own thing but also like to spend time in the flat socialising together. Bonus points if you'll watch Taskmaster with me. Ideally, a woman who is 30-40 and looking for a longer term stay (at least a year). Don't mind if you smoke on the understanding you won't do so in the flat. Animal lover a must as I need to trust leaving Max in your care when/if I'm away. Vegetarian preferred but not essential.
