Unique Single En-suite Garden Room

Lovely tranquil lodge which overlooks the garden in a quiet residential part of York. You are quite independent with your own entrance via a side gate. The room includes a small double bed, desk and kettle. Cooking is with the microwave and there is a fridge/freezer. The bathroom has a small sink and a shower. Bi-fold doors open out onto a small porch for sitting out in the summer and the lodge is well insulated for cosy warmth in the winter. There is access to a washing machine for a weekly load. A local daytime bus stops nearby with more buses a short walk away. Acomb shops and cafes, Co-op, Morrison’s, Lidl, Hob Moor nature reserve, York Energise and West Bank Park are all short distances. York Railway station is a 15 minute walk and the city walls and city centre a 20 minute walk. There is space in the garden for bike storage and local bike paths go from Hob Moor to Acomb, the Knavesmire, Millennium Bridge and Tadcaster Road.
The garden lodge, known as ‘The Pod’ is ideal for short term lets up to 6 months. There is a resident cat called Malachy who may like to visit from time to time. And you may be asked to do a bit of cat sitting now and then. My daughter’s friendly dog, Puggy, visits occasionally, though dog and cat haven’t yet made friends. I live in hope!
The garden is organic and sometimes left to go a bit ‘wild’. I am very environmentally conscious and careful and considerate of my impact on the earth. I welcome a lodger who has the same values, is into recycling and will be thoughtful of conserving energy by turning down the heat when out. This is a quiet neighbourhood and would suit someone who would appreciate that. Smoking of any kind is not permitted in The Pod or the garden. The lodger is responsible for keeping the Pod tidy and in good order.
I am looking for someone for whom a short term Monday to Friday let is ideal. You may be looking for something more permanent, in need of accommodation for a limited time, or have a short term job contract.
I am semi-retired and continue to work self-employed as a dance teacher. I have an office in my home and I spend quite a lot of time here. There is Wi-Fi in The Pod and bills are included in the rent.
