A Homeshare arrangement offers low cost accommodation in the home of an older person, or couple, in exchange for an agreed amount, typically 10 hours a week, of companionship and help around the home.

Are you a friendly, considerate and kind person? We are looking for the right person to join a friendly, cheerful Householder in her lovely Iffley home, close to public transport, a 15-minute cycle ride to central Oxford and a short walk to the river Thames.

The Householder, in her mid-80s, has led a full, active life. She is very attached to her village and has been involved in several community initiatives and groups, including setting up the village community shop. She has a catering degree and a love of cooking. She also qualified and worked as a counsellor.

The householder has been living well with Parkinson’s disease but she and her family recognise that some basic practical help (particularly, with preparation of early evening meals) and the reassuring presence of someone in the house, especially overnight, would now be very beneficial.

She has always enjoyed living with others, having had lodgers over the years (including a current very part- time lodger, friend of the family). The light company and companionship that comes with a Homeshare arrangement would be welcome. Owing to having become a little more forgetful, someone understanding of, and sympathetic to this issue, would be important.

The Householder has enjoyed being a member of book groups and playing scrabble and bridge locally. She is passionate about her garden and enjoys classical music. She watches TV, goes for short walks around the village or down to the river and she attends a weekly Parkinson's dance class in central Oxford. She has several very good friends whom she sees regularly and does the shopping with. She also has a carer who visits a couple of times a week.

This Homeshare would suit a friendly and considerate person who is happy to help out in the ways outlined above and who might share some of the Householder’s interests. A car driver, to help with occasional lifts, would be ideal.
