Low cost accommodation in Eye IP23

A warm and friendly elderly person with reduced mobility and some old age memory loss is seeking a Sharer for their home to give them a mix of 15 hours’ help and company each week in exchange for the low-cost accommodation.

This person would really enjoy and value the friendly reassurance of having someone around their home in the evenings and overnight. The would welcome some company, and also appreciate a little practical help with prompts and reminders, picking up shopping and cooking/sharing a few meals, carrying things/hanging up laundry, simple IT/changing lightbulbs, helping to keep the house clean and tidy, and ad hoc other tasks/errands as might be useful. The is a friendly elderly rescue cat.

The accommodation on offer is a large room currently furnished with a single bed (could be changed for a double bed) and its own bathroom. Shared use of the kitchen, sitting room and lovely garden – someone would be welcome to grow veg if they wished.

The property is in in the pretty village or Eye, in Suffolk, approximately 10 minutes’ drive from Diss Station. Due to location a car owner/driver is essential.

The person enjoys reading the Guardian, listening to Radio 4, doing Wordle, watching David Attenborough and other interesting programmes and dramas, and their lovely garden (they have help in the garden). They also get involved in local activities including volunteer reading and the local school and local history archives.

As a Sharer you are free to work or study as long as you have enough spare time to give the agreed level of company and support. The ideal Sharer will be a positive, friendly, kind, helpful and reliable non-smoker who ideally shares some of the person’s interests.
