Double basement bedroom for female lodger

Friendly husband and wife are seeking a professional mature female Lodger who is laid-back and cat friendly or at least doesn’t mind cats (we have two).

This is a decent sized furnished double basement room *for single occupancy* with own TV in a cozy and quiet Victorian cottage just 10 minutes walk into Dorking town and 1.5 miles to the train station.

You will share the kitchen and bathroom (which is modern and has underfloor heating) and the lounge will be accessible (although you may not want to watch what we’ve got on, which is why you will have use of a TV in your room).

Rob and I are friendly and sociable but are not party animals anymore due to our age! We enjoy our own space and respect that in others, so we wouldn’t be offended if you came in from a hard day at work and didn’t hang about for pleasantries etc.

We have a small garden that is hit by the sun all day, it's very quiet and peaceful; a lovely place to sit and be calm. Broadband is decent and parking is available.

We are looking for someone who is laid-back, friendly, has common sense (I. e. uses a chopping board when chopping food, locks the front door when leaving the house last etc - believe me we have come across this!), someone who doesn’t come with a sense of entitlement and will clean up after themselves, in an economically and environmentally friendly way. We aren’t clean freaks but generally we are clean & tidy. We don’t currently have a cleaner so whoever is living here should expect to muck in with cleaning the shared areas; the bathroom mainly. However, if you need a rota for this then our home probably isn’t for you!

The house is lovely but it’s small so it’s not the kind of house where you can entertain often, we don’t entertain much at home because we prefer to venture out to see friends but also we don’t wish to overwhelm the house or our lodger. Therefore the prospective lodger will also need to understand and respect this. Due to there only being one bathroom it isn’t practical to have people stay, however, allowances can be made occasionally for partners if they stay minimally and are discreet. The set-up here isn’t a ‘houseshare’ where your friends can come and go as you please, it’s a home where you’re living with the owners in their own home. This rental needs to be looked at as a ‘base’ in that one eats, sleeps, showers and relaxes here, but socialising happens externally to the house. Lodgers who have understood this arrangement have stayed a long time and it has worked well 😁
