Affordable accommodation offered in PURLEY, CR8 area, FEMALE ONLY excellent opportunity for a Homesharer looking to live in a lovely home.

We are a Not-for-Profit charity in London who run a Homeshare programme, where we find Homesharers who are willing to provide approximately 10 hours a week of help, support and companionship to a householder who has a spare room.

TRANSPORT
The nearest buses and British Rail station are an 8-10 minute walk from the house. There are takeaways in easy walking distance, a dress shop, a hairdresser, and general store,
Reedham Station accesses Victoria and London Bridge, and there is a well-served bus route on the A23, connecting with Coulsdon and Purley with their shops, supermarkets, and larger British Rail stations.

HOUSEHOLDER
A lovely lady in her early 70’s she lives in a 3 bedroom house with a lovely small garden. She would welcome a friendly homesharer who has a cat or is willing to care for a cat, offer some companionship, and provide the added assurance of having someone at home at night. She has Parkinson, early onset Dementia, mild arthritis in the back of her neck and wrist and stabilised bipolar all controlled by medication.
She feels very isolated as both Parkinson’s and early onset dementia prevent her from reading books or going out for walks. Additionally she is very frustrated that she can no longer draw, paint, take photographs, go to exhibitions, or take a walk independently.

She has carers who come in twice a day to do her personal care give her medication. She comes down in the morning and sits in her armchair in the lounge watches TV or listens to the radio. In the day time she smokes a few cigarettes and watches TV, she receives quite a few support telephone calls during the week from befrienders, sisters and friends. In fine weather she ventures into her back garden but is too nervous to undertake a solo walk around the small mews outside her front door.

ACCOMMODATION
Cosy 3 bed house has an upstairs bathroom with basin, bath and shower. Downstairs there is cloakroom with toilet and shower, a small fitted kitchen and double sitting room/dining room.
The Homesharer will have the front master bedroom with fitted double wardrobe, double bed (electric) and bedding supplied. There are two bedside drawer units and a comfy chair. The room overlooks the lovely green square in a small mews accessed from Aveling Close via a footpath.
Downstairs, the conservatory will be turned into a snug/small lounge for the homesharers personal use, with small sofa, fridge freezer, and a workstation (if required)
Small back garden with 2 chairs and table. Internet is available.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES
The procedure is filling in an application form and a profile, doing the DBS check, getting references from current/former employers and then start the procedure of matching. The room is available immediately subject to DBS and Reference checks and after an initial meeting has been organised.
