There are 4-5 buses each hour to Edinburgh, via Heriot Watt university, which takes approximately 18-20 minutes. Napier University (Sighthill campus) is 25 minutes by bus and Edinburgh centre around 40 minutes.

Livingston has a large retail outlet, with cinemas, associated bars and restaurants. There's a sports centre and hospital and all are centrally located. Mid Calder has some good pubs and restaurants, 5 minutes by bus.
