Zookeeper Looking for Room 🦒

I'm currently looking at rooms to rent in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, St. Albans, or the surrounding areas. I'm looking for more of a landlord-and-tennant type-situation, rather than an agency, or a room in a 6-bed HMO.

I am Alex, 29, and I am a Zoo Keeper at Whipsnade Zoo. Ideally, I'd be no more than a 25-30 minute drive to work (that also means I'll have a car, so I'll need parking; on street is fine!). With my job, it's hugely physical and I work outside a lot, so somewhere lovely, warm and cosy to return to would be ideal. A room with a good, modern finish, plenty of storage and neutral decor will be sure to grab my attention. Somewhere really easy to live - new builds or recently renovated rooms are perfect.

I am a relatively quiet but equally outgoing, funny, mature, self aware, and caring gay man. I appreciate my own space, so don't worry - I'll respect yours too. I enjoy cooking as much as I do eating. I don't enjoy the hangover as much as I do drinking, so my party days are waining - but not fully past me just yet. Being a zookeeper, I'm very handy when it comes DIY and repairs - and that of course means pets are not just tolerated, but appreciated. It also means that I won't be bringing work home with me, and WFH is not an option at all. All muddy boots, wellies, ands uniform stay at work.

On my days and weekends off (I only have 1-in-3 weekends off, so you’ll get some weekends where I’m not around. I do have regular days off midweek most weeks), I like to batch cook, enjoy a rosé, spend time with friends, and head into London. I have close friends from around the country, so if they were to have somewhere to stay when they visit infrequently, or were welcome to share my room, it would be a positive, but is not imperative.

I am very independent and lead my own life, so I am no necessarily looking for friends, but a glass of wine on the sofa with some trashy tv and a good laugh is very welcome. I have lived with people for 11 years now, with no issues, so I consider myself to be very considerate and clean and tidy.
