This will begin your referencing and hold the room for you for up to 4 weeks. The room will be taken off the market during this process. This will be deducted from your rent if your application is successful.

Alternatively, you could put down a security deposit of 1 month's rent. This is held with The Deposit Protection Scheme and is refundable when you move out depending on the condition of your room and your rent being paid up to date.
