We live in a quiet, traditionally renovated, Georgian house in a leafy suburb with lovely neighbours in the posh part of Aigburth (close to Otterspool Prom and a short walk to Sefton Park). This is a family home, but we have been welcoming lodgers for decades now, both here and when we lived in Kuwait.
I used to be a teacher and diving instructor, now returned from overseas, so have plenty of tales to share about sailing and diving in the Middle and Far East! My partner is still based there, but lives with us when he's in the UK.
The garden is pretty amazing, as is the sheltered smoking lounge we have out there (no smoking inside). The kitchen is the social hub of this house... especially if you can cook. We like meat eaters with whom we can share the occasional meal (preferably Come Dine! style)!
VERY Close to 82 and 500 bus routes (30 seconds walk, then buses every 5 minutes with a 20 minute ride to town or the airport) and Aigburth station... (2 minute walk, then northern line trains every 15 minutes which take 10 minutes to get to town, and 5 minutes to South Park BR interchange). For car commuters, we're just off the A561 with excellent road links to everywhere.
We have some very, very, very local bar/restaurants and a GoLocal just around the corner! We're also only ten minutes walk to the supermarkets.
Our labrador is very well behaved, you'll fall in love with her, I promise! We also have chickens, so you might get a few very fresh eggs included! Oh, we also have an apiary, so we discourage folk with bee allergies!
Footnotes
- Since we still like to travel, our ideal lodger will double up as caretaker and chicken-sitter when we travel - thank you for that if and when it happens. 😎
- There is NO smoking in the house but we have a pretty awesome outside monsoon shelter for smoking, replete with armchairs and couch which is used more than the lounge!
- We have NO TV and prefer lodgers NOT to bring one. If you are dependant on mainstream propaganda, this is not the house for you.
- It is a house with character - so certain things need to be done a certain way, and it's better if you're a fast learner.
- We are looking for LONG term lodgers, minimum 6 months. If you want a short term boarding house then don't be surprised if I ask for short term rent!
- You will need to be able to provide two references from friends or colleagues who have known you at least two years.
- This is the smallest room. It has a sturdy double loft bed, with hanging space and deep storage shelving built in. Also drawers, smaller shelving reachable from the bed, desk and chair, and a beanbag!
- Since this is a loft bed, you need to be nimble enough to climb a ladder regularly! It also helps if you're shorter than 6 foot!
- Public transport to this area stops around midnight, so it's not ideal if your work entails late night finishes, unless you have your own transport.
