Looking for a double room
Hey everyone,
My name's Juliette and I'm 25.
Unfortunately, I have to leave my current flat as my landlord gave us notice so I'm looking for a new long term place. I'm ideally looking to move in early August as my tenancy ends around the 10th. I'm a bit flexible and can move in ealier but definitely not after that. I'm looking to stay long term. I've got a budget of £1000 excluding bills. An en-suite room or a flat with a garden/patio/terrasse would be ideal, espcially now that summer is almost here, but it's not a deal breaker. However, for me the flat/house having a living room is a must as I think without it, it's quite difficult to form bonds within the flat so I'll not consider a place that doesn't have one. Will only consider ads with photos/videos. Also, I don't mind living with the landlord as long as you're cool.
I'll be coming with a clothes rack, and cubboard as well as a desk chair but not much else so I will need the room to be furnished.
Ideally, the flat/house is surrounded by pubs, supermarket, local food shops, a gym, restaurants and tube stations (within a 10 min walk). Also, I happen to be a lesbian so the flatmates would defintely need to be comfortable with it (would hate to live with biggots).
I'm originally from France but have been living in London pretty much my entire adult life. I'm currently completing my LLM and doing an internship in the legal department of a start-up while working part-time at a local pub. Next September, I'll be working full-time in hospitality while still looking for a grad job. I've got my right to rent as I arrived in the UK before Brexit so that won't be an issue :).
I would say I'm quite reserved at first but I'm always down for new activities and never say not to a trip to the local pub for a fresh pint or darts game. As my friends say, I can always sink a few pints! I'm pretty chill, easy going and don't take myself too seriously. Heads up, I occasionally smoke but, of course, never inside so won't be stinking up the place.
When I'm not at the pub with my mates, I like chilling at home watching my latest show (I'll be bringing a projector), listening to recent songs I stumbled upon (mainly indie, rnb, jazz and soul) and cooking. I've recently starting learning the guitar so I'll definitely be bringing it with me as well and would love to learn a few tunes if you partake as well.
I also like spending time outside whether it is at the local park drawing or playing my guitar, exploring local markets, bouldering, doing martials arts (specifically Muay Thai and BJJ), going to gigs, museums or shows. I love me a good jazz bar. I'm also a big fan of travelling so will probably take random trips once in a while and would love for a fun bunch to join me.
Flatwise, I'm definitely looking to spend time with my flatmates once in a while. I'm thinking maybe go to a few gigs, your favorite local spots, organise a few dinner nights at home where we all cook and eat together while watching shows, or just catch up in the kitchen. Cooking/ making cocktails is lowkey my love language so always happy to share a good time in the kitchen around a good glass of wine. I'm also a big fan of board games but heads up i'm quite competitive. Also I'm learning chess so would love someone to play with!
I'd really want to avoid living with people who are basically strangers but rather we create a cozy, relaxed home away from home. That said, I also quite like my alone time to recharge so a mix of quiet time around the flat would also be perfect. I don't mind the occasional house parties as long as everyone is respectful and cleans up after!
I've lived in house shares pretty much since I was 18 so I definitely know to clean after myself and keep the rooms tidy so this won't be a problem. Cleanliness is defintely important to me but I'm not anal about it.
Also random, but I'll also be bringing with me a coffee machine and an airfryer.
If I sound like someone you could live with, you can message either here or on whatsapp (unfortunately I can't include my number in the ad itself so you'll need to message me on here first). If you're up for it, I'm down to organise a viewing and if everything goes well, I have no problem putting down the deposit or signing the contract given the coming up deadline.
Cheers,
Juliette
