Seeking a Double Room/ Studio/ Annex in Sussex

Hi there,

My name is Alex. I’m 35 and looking for a double room, studio or annex in Brighton, Hove, Portslade, Worthing, Shoreham or Hassocks, though I’m flexible for the right area and the right property.

I’m ideally looking to live with 1-3 people maximum. The room would need to be big enough for a proper desk/study area, with good internet and ideally some outdoor space. I do have a car and parking would be handy but I am open to looking into permit options and alternatives.

A bit about me: I’m originally from Devon but I have spent the majority of my adult life in Sussex with a couple of years spent in London.

I used to be a primary school teacher for 15 years, and I’m also a qualified play therapist. I left my teaching job at the end of 2025 and I’m currently halfway through a 14‑month scholarship at the University of Sussex, retraining as a social worker.

I work hard during the week and will be on placement or at uni with some occasional working from home. I often spend weekends in Kent visiting my partner. We’ve been together for five years, long‑distance, as he has caring responsibilities. It would be lovely if he could stay once or twice per month at the weekend. He’s a respectful and warm ginger giant who is a brilliant cook!

I’m warm, friendly, respectful and very clean and tidy. I love a calm, peaceful home. I’m sociable and enjoy sharing a glass of wine, a film in the communal space or a trip to the pub, but I also really value having my own space and down time - I’m definitely not looking for a party house.

I enjoy spinning, yoga, and singing in an LGBT choir, although I am currently taking a break from this due to uni commitments. I love travelling , even if it’s just packing up the car and heading out on a weekend road trip. I backpacked for 6 months solo in 2019 starting in Goa and ending in Iceland!

I’ve been living with my current housemate and dear friend for the past four years and her mother. I’m sadly having to move as
her care needs have increased and my room is needed for live-in carers.

I am looking forward to moving as soon as possible.
