Seeking short/long term new home in/near Brighton
Hi there,
I’m looking for a quiet, peaceful and cosy new home for myself and my two indoor cats, a very chill, handsome 10 year old Ragdoll named Sebastian, and a similarly 10 year old friendly Tortie named Fluffs. (I’ve shared photos in my ad.) :)
My landlord is selling our flat, and my section 21 notice expired Nov 7, so I would prefer a longer term arrangement, either 6-12 months+ tenancy or lodger contract, and am open to approved sublets too.
My ideal place is a cozy cabin, or detached space that’s my own, with a small garden area and nature on the doorstep. Clean, light, bright, and airy. Cabins, cottages, and annexes very welcome!
(I would consider 6 months for a room or temp sublet too, but please no less than 6 months.)
So if you’ve got a cozy studio, cottage, or flat, or a spacious room for 6 months or possibly longer, please get in touch. You’d be helping us out, and maybe I can return the favor and look after your place and any plants/garden for you while you’re away too!
Fun fact: I used to run a pet/house sitting company when I lived in America, and loved caring for people‘s pets and homes.
About me:
I’m a writer, storyteller, relational coach, and nature lover, and I work from my home or anywhere I can sit and write. (Or walk and write.)
I identify as LGBTQ+ and if flat-sharing, would prefer to share with another woman or non-binary folks. (Sorry, guys!) I prefer a calm, quiet environment at home and am only looking to share with one other person.
I volunteer part time up at Stanmer, recently started foraging, and am currently working on a new writing project. I do work from home a fair bit, so I wouldn’t be a good fit if you’re seeking a flatmate and this is a deal breaker. (I’d work in my room, am quiet as I’m a writer and we’re usually a quiet bunch, and you’d probably hardly see me.)
I’m also considering pursuing Psychotherapy training, and may be in London 1 day a week for this or 1 weekend a month starting in the autumn.
I’ve lived alone and with flatmates, and know it’s important to find the right fit on both sides when living with other people, so want to offer as much detail upfront as I feel comfortable sharing in an ad and am open to questions!
Ideally I would prefer my own space to come home to and relax and be creative in, hence looking for a cottage, flat, or studio space. And I am open to the right fit and flatmate or community share, especially with those who love cats (and other animals) and are community-oriented too.
So if you’re looking for a quiet, responsible, reliable, and conscientious tenant for your cottage, flat, or studio, or you have a home for rent short or long term, or need a flatmate or lodger, and you think we might be a fit, please send me a message!
- I have a budget of £900 plus bills for a cottage, cabin, studio, annex, or other private self contained space. And up to £650 for a room (the latter includes bills.)
- Open to areas. Bonus points for being close to nature and wide open spaces. Must have good public transport access.
- Furnished or unfurnished is okay. (I don’t have a lot of stuff, but obv happy to furnish somewhere if needed.)
- Open to getting renters/pet insurance as well if you have furniture, and happy to discuss.
- Non-smoker
- Good rental references (I’ve lived in my current flat for over 2.5 years)
- Can possibly have a guarantor if needed.
- Happy to pay first month’s rent and deposit as standard.
- Happy to provide any house/plant ‘updates’ whilst you’re away :)
- Available to move after March 19th.
I would love it if we could have a written contract between us for both our peace of minds if doing a sublet or tenancy. (Just something that shows our dates, overall agreement etc!)
And if you’re thinking we might be a fit but you’re not 100% sure, please do message me anyway. I’m open to a chat and we can always explore the possibilities. And as a friend reminded me recently, we miss 100% of the opportunities we don’t take :)
Look forward to hearing from you!
Best wishes,
Sandi
P. S: For anyone with a flat share:
- I’m not strictly vegan/vegetarian for health reasons. I do cook fish in the house, and have the occasional piece of meat as a dietary requirement, but I am 96% vegan, and shop locally and consciously where I can. I’m also an aspiring herbalist and gardener.
