Oscar's looking for a social postgrad house!

Hello! I'm Oscar, a second-year PhD based in the Global Sustainability Institute, ARU, moving back to Cambridge after 6 months of fieldwork in Bhutan. I am after a friendly, sociable house with other postgrads/researchers/PhDs.

Speedy one about me: I'm 30, Danish/English but mostly English. I have lived in Copenhagen and Bristol for the large part of my 20s and spent the last year or two in Cambridge for my PhD which I intend to finish in summer 2027 (after which I’ll likely move back to Bristol). I lived in a lovely house with other PhDs for my first year and would love to find something like that again: something sociable, studious, and an active but tidy and calm space.

Likes: the outdoors (cycling, swimming, camping, saunas etc etc), folk choirs and playing folk music, keeping fish (in a quiet tank that follows me wherever I go - either in my room or living room/communal space), doing things together, ghouls.

Dislikes: shared houses without much of a social feeling (I’m happiest at home eating breakfast/dinner, chatting with my housemates for 30 mins before the day starts/ends), people’s knees.

Practical:
- Budget: up to around £750
- Where: Mill Road area and other residential parts of CB1 or close by are perfect too
- When: I’ll be available to move in from 15th August, but can be flexible with the rental start date (i. e. renting from the start of August is cool if needed to secure the place). I’m also flexible with the move-in date as I have other means of temporary accommodation when back in Cambridge.
- The PhD is funded so am financially safe
- I have plants, a record player w lots of records, pictures, and other homey things if the house needs it. I’d LOVE a space for bike parking too. Don’t have a car.
