Large room in a quiet, peaceful house wanted

I am a quiet living mature man, sociable yet private too. Looking for a large room in the Shuttleworth/Biggleswade/Bedford area.

All being well, I will soon be taking a Lecturers position at Shuttleworth, relocating from Reading. I have no start date as yet - they are still going through all the background checks and that will take a couple of weeks, so this ad may be a little early. However you have to start sometime so here it is.

Ideally, a place approximately a half hours cycle ride would be ideal as I would like to bike as my main commute. There would need to be parking too - not necessarily allocated parking - street is fine but so long as its not a case of "I wonder where I can park tonight". I'm still learning about the area so please excuse me if my wishes seem contradictory. For example, Biggleswade seems nice but maybe its more than a half hours bike ride away. Reasonably close proximity to a gym would be a factor also.

The room needs to be relatively large - a double with space to move around without edging sideways as I like to have my room as my own sitting room, not just a bedroom. I even have my own fridge/freezer but that can go if needed.

My wild days are over (thankfully!) I like to read, listen to music, watch films and TV. If the house contains 'lively', 'fun', 'outgoing' type of people, it sounds like my idea of living hell. Don't get me wrong, I like to have a laugh, but I like my own space and peace and quiet. I also like to go to the gym and workout and love the countryside, pub and watching sport.

Ideally, there is somewhere I can safely and securely store a pushbike and a garden - I do love a bbq - that will be a bonus, but again, not a deal breaker.

So, if you need a hand paying your bills and you have some of what I described above, I would like to hear from you. I don't do drugs or smoke and that must describe you, also. People on drugs are so...boring. I like the occasional drink but never in excess.

I will be full time employed, Monday to Friday but need 7 days a week accommodation. I would like to be settled for a good while and would consider my digs my home. Providing things work out ok I will be looking to rent or buy my own place but that is tbd.

So.. just putting it out there. Obviously things cannot be finalised until that start date comes through but when it does, things will need to move pretty fast.
