Writer & Dog Seek Off Grid Tenancy For Orchard

Hello. I'm looking for rural accommodation from November 2026 onwards. I'm specifically seeking a Shepherd's Hut, Cabin, Caravan, Pod, Barge, Yurt etc Anything a bit 'quirky' and Off The Beaten Track.

Though I'm not necessarily looking to go down the bricks and mortar route again, I would consider a more bog standard dwelling if it afforded me the same degree of freedom that a non- permanent shelter obviously would, such as easy accessibility to surrounding countryside and low carbon footprint.

I'm a writer/ filmmaker(ex BBC Wildlife Unit) searching for the 'right setting',without too much distraction to work on upcoming projects while enjoying nature, scenery and wildlife(hopefully). The operative words are 'Close to Nature.' It's just me and an extremely well behaved 7 year old Border Collie(Bertie). Very minimal requirements therefore. I'm entirely self-contained and self-sufficient after spending over a decade now living in the wilds of Scotland and Cumbria. Originally from London, I feel the South is strongly calling to me again...

I'm extremely easy to get on with, friendly, outgoing when I need to be and university educated. I definitely have a glass half full outlook and the ability to see the funny side of most things. Non-smoker, teetotal, solvent.

Currently working on a series of nature memoirs, photographic essays and plays.

I'm highly flexible as to locations. My seemingly idiosyncratic list of preferred areas is just there as a guide to indicate the counties I'm most interested in right now. For instance, I'm open to moving to anywhere in the Fens not just the areas listed. Ditto Wales, the South West and elsewhere

Will also consider living alongside eco projects/intentional community, Land Collectives, possibly even contributing in some way. I have a broad range of skill sets and I'm not in the least afraid of getting my hands dirty. I have various diplomas in horticulture etc. As an aside, I'm currently looking for land to rent or steward to grow organic heirloom apples. But that's not necessarily a priority just at the moment. I have the saplings, I just need somewhere to plant them!

I have been vegan all my adult life; that shouldn't be in the least bit off putting to any carnivores reading this as I have no desire to moralise or preach on anyone's doorstep. That area of my life is strictly compartmentalized
