Buddy-up with friendly, warm and tidy housemates

Hi, I am a full-time PhD student at the University of Essex. I'm in my first year now and will be entering year two in October, 2026. I am of Indian origin, I love cooking and looking after the spaces I live in.

I am looking to buddy-up with like-minded housemates that would like to live more like kind and respectful friends than strangers and wouldn't mind cooking together sometimes or hang out for an occasional movie night. I am social but respectful of your privacy and space as I'd hope the same for me.

I also like to keep the common areas (toilets and kitchen) clean after use and would like to share my living space with someone that does that too.

I am happy to meet-up and see if we get along and make a group for us to share a home that's close to Hythe/ Tesco or the city centre.

An important thing to note is that I have the most adorable Persian cat and he loves to lounge around to make your day.
Needless to say, I always clean up after him and make sure our common areas are tidy :)

I'm looking for a double room (because of my pet and also because I need storage) for myself. Ensuite is preferable but not a deal-breaker if we agree to keep it clean. :)

My budget is 600- 650 including bills but obviously, I'm happier for it to be lesser.
My main concern is proximity to supermarkets, bus stops, gym and campus.
