*queer, artistic, educator seeks home not house*
My name is Lee (33) and I identify as a queer, intersectional feminist. I have been working in education for the last 4-5 years and after recently completing a MA in Creative Writing and Education am looking to relocate to Bristol in mid-August or beginning of September at the latest.
I am a literature nerd and passionate about all art forms, particularly multimodal blending of disciplines. This is what I focus on in my own creative work where I combine poetry with visual and sonic arts as a vehicle for social commentary. I have also always had a real passion for wold cinema and was lucky enough to have interned with the BFI in the past looking at the use of film as an educational tool.
This all makes me sound quite serious, which I am sometimes but not really. I can be quite silly and goofy at times and have a somewhat cynical dry humour. I think the photos I have attached demonstrate my whimsical nonsense quite well.
I would love to find somewhere that strikes a balance between socialising and a community atmosphere with a respect for space and independence. Due to my work in education, I value a calm and safe place to come back to during the week. I really value a felt sense of communal responsibility when sharing a home: one where everyone wants to make sure the shared spaces are kept clean and usable for everyone.
At weekends, I would love to go out dancing and making some mischief. I am also really at my happiest when out in nature and engaging with animals and wildlife, so would be just as happy going on outdoor adventures. I'm a gifted cook and take great pleasure in sharing food with people, especially those I love. So somewhere with a decent kitchen is also desirable. I would like a furnished or part-furnished double room and it doesn't have to be massive but too small and I start feel a little like a caged animal.
I appreciate people who are honest, kind, silly, clever, respectful, considerate, passionate, ambitious, resilient, artistic and genuine. These are the kinds of people I would like to share a home with. As a queer woman, it would be lovely to be with other queer people; if not, allies are a must. Ultimately, I want to live with people that will become friends along the way.
I find writing about myself like this really quite insufferable and either write too little or way too much, so I'm going to leave it here.
