Hi, I'm Stephan!

I'm 32, moving over from Berlin at the end of September, and honestly a bit excited and nervous about it! I just landed a full-time, long-term job developing software for a new type of computer chip, mostly in-office.

I'm looking to start my London journey in Hackney or Dalston, since I already have a few friends in the area and know it well from previous visits. A bit about me: I grew up in a small German village on a winery with my two older sisters. My first trip to London was at 12, on a school exchange, which opened up a completely different world to me, so I'm super excited to finally move here properly. I have a master's in audio research (speakers, acoustics, how the brain processes sound), but over time I got more into programming my own instruments and research tools. That led me to speak at programming conferences around the world, and on my last one in London I got the job offer that's now bringing me over.

Outside of tech, my background is in music. I used to sing in bands and tour as a DJ, but I don't do it actively anymore, so no worries about noise from my end! I think all those years in bands and on events is what made me sociable and a good communicator. I've lived in shared flats most of my life and would always choose to again. I like being around people, helping each other out, and having someone around for a spontaneous dinner or movie night. I'm tidy, organized, and pretty minimalist. I only keep what I actually use, so at least the move itself won't be so complicated :D
