Peace, music, and good chats :)

Hello future flatmate(s)! I'm Amrit (she/her), a 40-year-old American woman who has lived in London since September 2025, completing my MA in Ethnomusicology at SOAS University of London, where I've been achieving distinction-level marks. I've been a DJ for 19 years, I'm a music researcher, a tech nerd, and I also have a degree in Ayurveda.

At home I'm quiet, clean, and very considerate of shared spaces. I do all my music in headphones so you'd never know I was a DJ. I'm vegetarian, I don't drink, and I genuinely love a peaceful home environment as much as a good deep conversation over a cup of tea. I don’t mind having alcohol around; I’m just not looking to live in a party house vibe. I smoke tobacco but always outside. I love animals and would be very happy living with pets! In fact, I miss my kitty and pup back in the US a lot, so if you have fur babies, that’s a plus to me.

I'm looking for somewhere that feels like home while I prepare PhD applications (I’m hoping to start the programme in autumn of 2027), so a warm, respectful household matters a lot to me, along with some shared giggles and chats from time to time. I really love making wherever I live feel like home, so I’m hoping to find my future housemate(s) who thrive in a similar dynamic.

As far as my work goes: I'm returning to Apple in a professional role from late August, and have a research assistant position confirming in September, giving me two solid income streams. I have a UK-based guarantor, strong references from my US landlord of five years, my academic supervisor, and Apple management, and am happy to provide proof of savings.

* Available mid-September 2026 (13th September is the best for me)
* Double room, furnished
£750 - £850 per month with all bills included (potential room for a little flexibility for the right place and people)
* North, Northwest, East or Southeast London - maximum 40 minutes commute from central London
* Zone 1-3 (zones 1-2 strongly preferred)
* Respectful, easy-going housemates who value a calm and warm home environment
* Proper desk and workspace in the room
* Non-smoking indoors
* References - I have strong ones available

My Like to Haves:
* Garden or outdoor balcony space
* Living room or proper communal area beyond just the kitchen
* Housemates with creative, musical, or intellectual interests, maybe an occasional impromptu dance party in the kitchen
* Veg household
* LGBTQ+ affirming environment
* Long-term let preferred - I'm looking to settle somewhere for at least a year
