Friendly Scientist Looking for a London Home
Hi! 😊 I’ve recently finished my PhD at the University of Oxford and am moving to London for a new job as a Lab Manager in Central London, so I’m looking for a lovely place (and equally lovely people!) to call home.
**What I’m looking for 🏡**
Ideally somewhere along the District or Circle Line, either East or West London, with an easy commute of around 30–40 mins to Covent Garden / KCL Strand. My budget is up to £1,500 pcm excluding bills.
I’d ideally like to live with at least one other working professional so we can split the joys of Council Tax 😄
**A little about me**
I’m very clean and tidy, and have a pretty regular routine: usually asleep by around 11pm and up at 7am. During the week I’ll be at work most of the time, and I often spend weekends back in Oxford with my friends and partner, so I’m definitely not someone who will be permanently occupying the sofa!
I do cook, but I’m more of a cook-once-for-the-week person than a three-meals-a-day kitchen resident. I’m very conscious of keeping shared spaces clean and making a house feel nice for everyone.
Personality-wise, I’m sociable and love a good kitchen chat, but I’m also a big believer in respecting people’s space and energy. If you’ve had a long day and want to disappear into your room, I absolutely get it — zero pressure. But if you fancy a chat, a film, dinner together or generally putting the world to rights, I’m very much your person 😊
Despite being a scientist/engineer by training, I’m also very into social science, fashion, films, travelling and hiking, and I’m a regular gym-goer. I don’t smoke or drink, and I have a long-term partner, so I’m not someone who’ll be bringing random people back to the house.
Ultimately, I’m hoping to find somewhere that feels like a home rather than just a room — friendly and welcoming, where everyone can happily do their own thing but also have a chat or hang out when the mood strikes. Mixed backgrounds, nationalities and interests are all very welcome!
If you have a room that sounds like it might be a good fit, please feel free to drop me a message! I’d love to hear a little about you and the house! 🌻
