Mon-Fri room for 2 weeks per month

Hi. I'm an astronomer working in the Royal Observatory. However, I don't live in Edinburgh: instead I live with my wife in England. I visit Edinburgh regularly, a few weeks per month to go to the office, see colleagues and meet with my students.

So far I've been relying on AirBnB and BnBs, but I'm looking for a way to have somewhere more reliable, and to share with friendly people.

I would be looking therefore for a room, which I will typically use 8 nights a month (M-F, 2x a month). I'm hoping this is ideal for example for someone who wants to make a bit of extra income in their flat, or for a flat where a bit of extra space is beneficial for half the month.

As for myself, I'm fairly straightforward. I like the usual stuff: reading, like to play video games and couch co-op, enjoy cooking and going to the pub now and then. I do some running, weight lifting and cycling (in fact, I cycle commute, so the ideal spot would have somewhere I can stash a bike, even if it's in the room.).
