Incoming Durham astrophysics PhD + tortie cat

Hiiii! I’m Dannaé, 28, from Mexico, and I’ll be moving to Durham in early October to start a fully funded PhD in astrophysics at Durham University. I’m looking for a pet-friendly single or double room from early-mid October, ideally for 6–12 months, although I can be flexible with the length of the tenancy.

My budget is up to £180pw / around £800pcm including bills. I’m happy to live in Durham or nearby as long as the commute to the university is around 45 minutes or less. I don’t have a car, so I’ll be relying on public transport, and I’m happy as long as there are good bus links or it’s within cycling or walking distance.

I’ll be moving with Reese, my 4-year-old tortie cat. She’s spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, litter-trained, calm and used to living around people, cats and dogs. She’s mostly an indoor cat but she's used to having some outdoor time, so access to a terrace, garden or patio would be a BIG plus. I’d also be very happy living with someone who has pets!

About me: I’m clean, tidy, quiet and fairly independent. I don't drink nor smoke. I like having a peaceful home and my own space, but I’m also friendly and enjoy chatting, cooking or hanging out together. I also love baking, so there will probably be baked goods involved (:

Outside astrophysics, I’m a professional figure skater and coach who loves travelling, films, concerts, dancing, gaming and trying new things. I speak Spanish, English and French and have previously lived in France, the Netherlands and the US.

I’d ideally like to live with 1–3 other postgrads or young professionals, preferably women, although I’m flexible. I’m looking for a relaxed, respectful home rather than a party house.

A private/en-suite bathroom is strongly preferred but not essential, and I’d ideally like a furnished room with at least a bed and wardrobe (a desk would be great too).
