Creative freelancer seeking home in West Sussex
I'm looking for a room, studio, annexe or other welcoming space in Sussex while I develop some exciting regenerative and community work opportunities around Steyning and the South Downs.
Available from late October, ideally for 1–3 months, with some travel planned in November and flexibility around the start date appreciated:
🌱 19 October – 17 November
🌱 30 November onwards
I'll be travelling for part of November, so I'm especially interested in arrangements that allow flexibility rather than requiring a continuous tenancy from the outset.
Location: Ideally Brighton or Steyning, Shoreham-by-Sea. I'm open to other parts of Sussex with good transport connections.
Budget: Ideally around £500–£650/month including bills, but open to discussing suitable short-term or flexible arrangements.
I'm especially drawn to somewhere with:
• Good natural light and space to work from home
• A peaceful, comfortable atmosphere
• Easy access to nature, countryside or community life
I'm equally open to a self-contained space or a friendly house share with people who value independence, creativity and a welcoming home environment. House/pet-sitting or mutually supportive arrangements could also be interesting.
A little about me
I'm a writer who works across regenerative, community, and creative projects, increasingly focused on land, soil, food, and community.
I co-run The Soil Factory, a community composting project in Forest Row, and I'm developing work with My Little Farm around Steyning, with the possibility of eventually living on the land.
I support Old Tree Brewery, mentor young men through A Band of Brothers, and am working on the fifth draft of a novel.
Outside work, I enjoy poetry, dance, acroyoga and contact improvisation, along with time in nature and good conversations.
I'm considerate, tidy and comfortable with shared living. I work partly from home, occasionally at unconventional hours, but am communicative and respectful of others' space and rhythms.
Ultimately, I'm looking for somewhere that feels like a genuine home base as this next chapter takes shape, without rushing into a long-term commitment.
