Civil servant - professional needs room/flat

I'm a professional man in my 40s, straight, in stable full-time employment, and I'm on the lookout for a room — or a "buddy up" to rent a whole property together.

A little about me: I've worked as an engineer in the public sector for 8 years now on a permanent role (a civil servant, essentially — which means a steady income and a clean record!). Most of my team works remotely, though I head into the office 1–3 days a week. I promise I'm friendlier than the job title might suggest.

I'd love somewhere by the sea if possible — there's nothing like a good walk along the coast to clear the head. **Manchester and Edinburgh are top of my list**, but I'm genuinely open to all offers. A garage for my van would be a lovely bonus and would bump an offer to the top of my list.

I'm easy-going and curious about most things — music, cinema, concerts, theatre, books, going out — it all depends on the mood and the company. Outside of that I love hiking, chess, and tinkering with 3D printing. I also cook a mean Yorkshire pudding and a proper shrimp pasta, though I'm just as happy cooking vegetarian. I enjoy a nice glass of wine and the occasional beer — nothing daily, just for the good moments.

On the practical side: I value a tidy, calm home and a bit of privacy, and I try to keep things constructive and communicative with housemates. I'm a non-smoker, no drama, no dodgy past 😊. I also travel to Europe for roughly 1–2 weeks every couple of months, so the place gets a little more breathing room and freedom for everyone while I'm away.

No pets of my own, but I'm a big fan of dogs and cats.

**A note on budget and arrangements:**
- **Full-time (7 days/week):** offers from £700 pcm should ideally have an en-suite and be within walking distance of the centre, or be a studio-style setup.
- **Weekends plus 1–2 extra days (4–5 days/week):** up to £500 pcm.
