Hello!
I'm Amanda, 42. I'm a full time Project Manager in the transport/regeneration sector working mainly from the office looking for a short term housemate, or potentially a longer term housemate who just wants to stay a few nights a week.
The room is a large sunny double room available on a quiet dead-end street just off Chessel Street. The room is fully furnished with a double bed (including new medium-firm Simba mattress), a Victorian dresser, large chest of drawers, blanket box etc. There's there's some attic space as well for suitcases etc. The Internet is good for WFH, and there are a couple of desk options downstairs available.
Bills include water, gas, electricity, and Vodafone fibre broadband, but no TV licence.
I'm pretty active (yoga, swimming, cycling, running etc), speak French and German conversationally, and a bit of Italian too, so French, German, or Italian speakers especially welcome. I'm vegan so ideally would prefer another vegan, but as long as you're OK with being vegetarian when you're in the house that's fine. You don't have to be veggie outside of the house, but my preference would be for someone who is veggie/ vegan so that no one has to compromise.
I have a trio of house rabbits, who are very friendly and have their own room but do also go in the kitchen sometimes so you'll need to be willing to make friends with rabbits (they will make friends with you regardless)! And I also volunteer for a rescue and so currently have another foster rabbit living in the bathroom (!)(it's a big room) but I think I'm going to stop fostering when she's ready to move on probably mid August.
I plan to fill the foster rabbit hole with some borrow my doggy activity. I've just met a couple of dogs (labradoodles) who live around the corner so I'll be trying to take them out once or twice a week and also maybe having them to stay on the odd occasion.
Probably the most important things about you (for me) are:
- you're tidy (i. e. you do your washing up after you've cooked, you leave the kitchen clean for the next person which includes wiping down surfaces. Life is too short to clean up after other adults!
- you're happy to not bring meat into the house. I don't mind what you eat outside of the house but a preference is obviously towards the vegan end of things.
- possibly have pets. I need to prioritise the rabbits' welfare but as an animal lover I'm happy to consider pets.
- you don't need to live here forever! I've been here for 10 years, much of it with housemates, and I've made my stamp on it, but I like to winter alone. It will suit people with short term housing requirements best - e. g. in the process of buying a house/just moved to Bristol and needing to find your feet/in Bristol for a period of study etc. I'm also open to Mon to Fri type arrangements or other non-full-time arrangements.
- it's not a requirement but I do tend get on best with outdoorsy people who care about animals and the environment.
Deposit will be protected in the DPS scheme.
If you're interested in knowing more then, please get in touch. I'm not in a particular rush to find a new housemate, so preference will be given if you can include something about yourself and why you think they could be a good match! If you don't say anything about yourself then don't expect a reply ;)
Thanks for reading,
Amanda
