Windsor Terrace Housing Society is recruiting!

The ground floor flat in our beautiful building in Clifton has become available and we're looking for a new members to take it over. We are ideally looking for a couple with a keen interest in community building and co-operative living who are looking for a long-term home.

The flat is a large one-bed across a single floor that can be divided into two large rooms by a set of folding doors. One room can be a large bedroom/living room and the other the kitchen/dining room. There is a small bathroom and a lovely balcony with a view of the suspension bridge. See attached photos! The flat will come unfurnished though some of the previous tenants' furniture may be available to purchase.

Windsor Terrace Housing Society is a housing
co-operative in a large 5-story Georgian building with stunning views on the edge of Hotwells and Clifton Village, a 10 minute bus/bike to the city centre. The house consists of 3 flats and 1 maisonette over 5 floors, a shared laundry room, a communal room we use for our meetings and guests, and a spacious shared garden with views of the suspension bridge.

The co-op has been running since 2003 and is
currently undergoing a long term refinancing project. As members you will have a say in how the co-op is run. We have a monthly meeting in which we organise all aspects of communal living, building maintenance, and finance. We estimate that the time commitment to
co-op life is around 2 hours per week, but this can fluctuate if we are working on big projects. Alongside this we have regular gardening and maintenance days, and a monthly shared meal/social.

The current members are 7 adults aged 25 – 72.
We have a diverse range of interests in food, languages, design, architecture, the arts, music, activism and organising, and youth work. We share an interest in community-focused, sustainable living and a view that property should provide a secure home rather than be
owned for profit.

We are looking for people who are interested in and excited by alternative housing models and community living, and who have the time and energy to contribute to living in a housing co-op. We value good communication and the ability to work and problem-solve with others. This opportunity would suit those who understand that co-op living is highly rewarding, but takes time and can also be challenging. We will be prioritising people who want to make Windsor Terrace their home for the long term.

Rent is £1081 and includes council tax, water
rates and communal internet. Electricity/gas is paid separately. We expect the rent to rise by up to 10% this year due to refinancing.

Applications close on the 29th of October and the room needs to be filled by 1st of December. Viewings will be held on the 4th and 6th of November, and the final interviews will be on the evening of the 8th of November.
