My flatmate is moving out in October, so I’m looking for someone to take his place and join me in our cosy 2-bed flat in Cotham.
The flat is on Cotham Road, about 5 minutes’ walk from Cotham Hill and 10 minutes from Whiteladies Road and Redland Station. There are two bedrooms, a shared kitchen (but no microwave), a spacious living room (with room for more houseplants), and one small bathroom with a shower and bath. We’re on the top floor so we get some great views, especially when the balloon festival is on!
The Room
I’ll be moving into my flatmate’s room once he goes, so you’ll move into my old room (shown in the photos). It comes furnished with a double bed, mattress, built-in wardrobe and chest of drawers.
Rent: £793 pcm
Council Tax: Band C
Bills: £165 - £170 pcm (covering water, energy, council tax and WiFi; I’d budget £200 to be safe, especially during winter)
All in: roughly £1,000 pcm
Deposit: £863
Available: 7th October
Sarah Kenny manages the property and handles referencing, which can take up to 2 weeks, so I’m ideally looking to find someone by 22nd September.
I’ve attached a video tour to give you a better feel for the place. Please excuse the quality - SpareRoom’s 24MB limit meant I had to do a LOT of compressing.
A bit about me
I’m 29, work in SEO and am about to start a new job near Temple Meads (which will be 3 days in the office and the other 2 days from home). I’m pretty sociable and tend to have a busy calendar, so I’m often in and out of the flat, but when I am home I like to relax and unwind and mainly spend my time practising languages or playing music or video games.
Whilst I have been known to embark on a very occasional night out, I’m not looking for a party house and prefer a laid-back, homely vibe. I’m quite independent, value having my own space and am often happy doing my own thing, but equally I like things to be friendly and enjoy a natter in the kitchen or living room over a cuppa.
I’d like to live with someone who’s similarly independent and has their own friends and interests, but who’s also up for getting to know each other and grabbing a pint or coffee together when we have the time. If you’re also comfortable with your own company, but would enjoy having a friendly flatmate around for the odd bit of low-pressure socialising, we’ll get along swimmingly.
Bonus points if you’re a musician, especially if you’re open to playing, writing or recording together: I play guitar, bass, piano and drums (although I stick to guitar, bass and singing around the flat), and I used to play in a couple of bands. I’d love to live with another musician again, but it’s by no means a requirement — so long as you don’t mind hearing me play from time to time!
I’m generally pretty easy-going, but I also really value my peace and quiet. I’m always conscious of when I play and how much noise I’m making (I don’t play too late or too loud) and I’d want to live with someone who’s similarly considerate about noise (music or otherwise). Likewise, I make sure to clean up after myself around the kitchen and communal areas, and like the flat to stay reasonably neat and tidy. I don’t expect the place to be spotless 24/7 (and I certainly don’t stick to a strict cleaning rota), but it’s important that we’re both doing our fair share to keep things clean.
I’d also like to keep the flat as a two-person home rather than feeling like I live with a couple, so if you have a partner, they’d ideally stay over 3 nights a week max.
If you reckon we’d be a good fit to live together, drop me a message and tell me a bit about yourself and we can arrange a viewing! Looking forward to meeting you :)
