Beautiful room in communal house in Montepellier

Hello! We have a room becoming available ASAP (ideally mid-late October but can be flexible) in our lovely, spacious and bright home in Montpelier.

It’s a house of six, and we are looking for a gorgeous new housemate to join us. We’re a friendly, sociable household who enjoy spending time together: hiking, going to gigs, camping, going out, cooking, garden hangs, potlucks, chats in the kitchen: while also having our own independent lives, routines and friendships.

We are looking for someone who genuinely wants to be part of a shared home. Someone who is happy to share in chores, cook communally, when possible, care for the space, and help tend to our beautiful garden, which we share with our neighbours.
The house is also part of a wider little community made up of another house of six and five flats. We all share a garden and front courtyard, and try to get together now and again for garden days, potlucks or just general hanging out.

The bottom line: this is not just a private room in a large house. You would be joining a social, communal home where hanging out, contributing and being part of the household really matters to us.
We also have a cat called Cwtch, who lives here, and we all chip in for food and care.

The room:
£765 per month. The room is on the ground floor, nice and cool in the summers but with toasty underfloor heating for winter. It has a skylight and double doors that open out onto a small shared alleyway just below the garden.

Bills are usually around £80–90 per month. Council Tax is Band D.

A bit about us:
Kate — she/her
A queer foodie who loves being outside, travelling and cold-water swimming. Happiest catching up with pals over a cup of tea or boogying at a festival. Currently working as a chef and facilitator in the charity food sector.

Shukti — they/them
Works across the events sector. They aspire to be many things they’re not right now — more creative, musical and outdoorsy among them — but as it stands, when life allows, they love a night out on the dance floor or a night in watching Arsenal from the couch.

Vicky — she/they
Queer Italian therapist in training with a hatred of trying to describe themselves. Loves chats and deep chats equally, going out for a dance, nature, going to the cinema.

Oscar — he/him
Working in the environmental sector and loves being in the outdoors. Always keen for a surf, a mid-week climb, or any kind of adventure

Who we’re looking for:
We’d love to live with people who are kind, thoughtful, communicative and up for contributing to a warm household culture. Ideally you have some experience of communal living, or at least a genuine interest in sharing space intentionally and respectfully.

We’d especially love to hear from queer people, people of colour and people from marginalised communities, as we’re keen to keep building a diverse and welcoming home.

We plan to start viewings as soon as possible.
