Room for rent in central Redruth — friendly, creative household
My lovely lodger is leaving, so I’m looking for someone friendly, open and respectful to share my home.
I’m open to both shorter and longer lets for the right person, particularly if you generally work away from home Monday–Friday.
This is a calm, creative and welcoming household, with a garden and a conservatory at the back of the house that gets full sun in the summer.
The room
The room is a smaller double bedroom at the front of the house, with lovely morning light and views towards a high-walled garden.
It comes furnished with:
Double bed, mattress and topper
Desk and chair
Cupboard
Mirror
Curtains and blackout blind
You’ll have your own shelves in the fridge and freezer, plus cupboard space in the shared kitchen.
The house
It’s a tidy, clean and relaxed home. You’ll have access to the whole house apart from my bedroom, home office/studio and spare room.
There are three bedrooms in total, including a guest bedroom at the back of the house for occasional visitors.
Shared spaces include:
Kitchen
Living room
Dining room
Conservatory
Garden
Two toilets — one with a shower and one with a bath
I work from my studio, which is separate from the house, so the house is generally quiet. I’ll usually have the radio or a playlist on when I’m at home.
I’m 53 and work as an artist, illustrator and educator. My partner is around on and off during the week, and I look after (well-behaved) dogs on occasion. Friends and family visit occasionally, and we’re a home that is happy to welcome guests on occasion (and their dogs).
I’m generally vegetarian, although I do eat meat occasionally.
I’m ideally looking for a female housemate who is considerate, independent and enjoys a friendly but relaxed home.
Location
The house is in a surprisingly quiet part of central Redruth — about two minutes’ walk from the shops and town-centre car parks.
It’s a terraced house, and being an older property, you can occasionally hear the neighbours, but generally it’s a peaceful place to live.
The railway station and main bus stops are around 5 minutes’ walk away, with easy connections towards Penzance, Truro, Falmouth, London and St Agnes. Redruth is also roughly equidistant from both coasts.
There is residential on-road parking on Fords Row, and the car park opposite is free after 4pm.
Redruth has a growing creative community, with cafés, art spaces and galleries, live music venues, a great cinema, charity shops, a health food shop, greengrocer/butcher, banks and all the usual essentials. There’s even Jim’s DIY, which seems to sell everything from home supplies and art materials to fancy dress!
About you
If you’re interested, please send me a little information about yourself, your current situation and what you’re looking for in a house share.
Accounts without photos won’t be considered or replied to.
I’m looking for someone who will enjoy the house and its slightly eclectic, creative atmosphere, while being respectful of having another person (and occasionally a few dogs!) around.
