Free accommodation in exchange for genuine companionship for elderly lady 12 hours a week. The hours would typically be spread over Tuesday-Thursday, and other days by arrangement e. g. Saturday-Monday. Flexibility would be key, so this would suit someone retired or equally flexible with their time.
For the right warm and caring person, this is a fabulous opportunity to save up for your next project whilst brightening the life of our mum & living in a beautiful location 20 mins drive from Totnes.
In addition to your en-suite bedroom, you also have a mezzanine sitting-room area of your own, full use of kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, and your own fridge, and full access to the large sun-deck and garden. Your room has stunning rural views and is not overlooked. Broadband and all bills included. You would find a car necessary for you to get around in the area as there’s no nearby public transport.
Mum is happy, enthusiastic, positive, humorous, and doesn’t complain. She’s lived a full life, and is still full of fun. She likes talking to family and friends on the phone, listening to music, playing word games, chatting, seeing visitors, sitting out on the sun-deck, watching Countdown, tennis, and the News.
Mum has carers who come in to help her shower and with other personal care, and family/friends who come regularly to help run the house and keep her company, so your part will be companionship on the days family are not there.
Mum naps a lot, so your hours would best be spread over the day e. g. 4 hours spread over 10-11 am, 1-2 pm, and 5-7pm. Other than that, your time and the other days are your own!
