Hi there,
I'm looking for a friendly, professional female to share my lovely little house with me and my cat, Pickley, on Maresfield Road (BN2).
The house is just a 10-minute walk from the Royal Sussex County Hospital and around 15 minutes from Kemptown and the beach, where you'll find plenty of great cafés, delis, bars and vintage shops. It's an ideal location for someone working at the hospital or anyone looking for a quieter place to come home to.
Transport links are great too:
The No. 21 bus stops at the end of the road (around a 3-minute walk).
Multiple bus routes run from outside the County Hospital, with Brighton city centre and Brighton Station around 15–20 minutes away.
Parking Zone H permit available through Brighton & Hove City Council (currently no waiting list).
The room would particularly suit someone working at the hospital, although I'm afraid it wouldn't be suitable for regular night-shift workers.
The house is on a quiet street overlooking the South Downs, with beautiful sea views from both the bedroom and the garden. It's a real treat to wake up and look out towards the sea!
The room is a furnished double with a small double ottoman bed (great for extra storage), a small desk and chair, chest of drawers, clothes rail, bedside table and mirror.
The kitchen is well equipped with a gas hob and oven, washing machine, dishwasher, air fryer, NutriBullet, food processor, toaster, kettle, iron and ironing board - I think it has just about everything! I also had a new bathroom fitted last year, with a full-size bath and overhead shower, and a wood burner installed in the lounge, which makes the house lovely and cosy during the winter.
The garden is one of my favourite parts of the house. It has a sofa, plus a bar table and stools where you can sit and enjoy the sea view. I'm still in the process of updating it, so it's a bit of a work in progress, but it's already a lovely space to relax. If you happen to enjoy gardening, there are still plenty of opportunities to get involved too! 🙂
A little about me: I'm a 49-year-old self-employed woman who works from home part-time, mostly in the mornings. Afternoons are usually spent swimming at Sea Lanes, working in the garden, or generally being out and about, especially during the warmer months. I enjoy yoga, swimming, hiking, cooking, reading, gigs and catching up with friends.
I'm looking for someone with a similar outlook—friendly, considerate and fairly relaxed rather than a big partier. Ideally, you'll work at least part of the week out of the house so we both have our own space during the day.
The room is available for a minimum of three months, and I'd ask for references from your current landlord and employer.
If this sounds like it could be a good fit, I'd love to hear from you. Please do get in touch if you have any questions!
Thanks,
Gemma
