Large attic room in Uppermill – ideal part time base for someone commuting or visiting family regularly.
I’m looking for a fellow cat-lover who needs a regular base in Saddleworth on a part-time basis. The SpareRoom website forces me to select "Mon–Fri" so I’ve ticked that box but weekend only would be ok too and in reality I am very flexible. My ideal pattern would probably be more like 4 days out of every 10, but if you have a specific commuting/visiting pattern we can look for a routine that works for both of us. The main thing is that it is a regular part time arrangement rather than full time. Whether you are commuting for work or – like me - away from home spending time with parents who are getting on, this might be a good home-from-home for you.
The house is in the centre of Uppermill, seconds away from the co-op, post office and local cafes. It’s a 15 minute walk to Greenfield Station (direct trains to Manchester and Leeds) There is parking outside and easy access to M60/M62 from Uppermill. The photos will give you an idea of the kitchen and bathroom and livingroom. There is a small private garden with a bigger shared garden at the back. The attic room is large, bright and comfortable and there is wifi throughout the house. I’m often away visiting family so you would have the house to yourself much of the time.
I am a potter and I work from home, so the house is very much a working space. It’s full of ceramics and ongoing experiments – definitely not minimalist! But it’s a warm, creative and peaceful space.
When you are here the attic room will be exclusively yours but I sometimes use it myself when my work takes over the middle floor. But I will make sure it is clear, ready and fresh for your arrival and you will have a dedicated storage space in there where you can leave your things between stays.
Now the cat. She is a big part of the reason I am looking for a part time lodger. She is a bit shy but she does like having someone around, so keeping her company and making sure she is ok when I’m away is part of the arrangement. I have reduced the rent to reflect this but even so, I’m looking for a genuine animal lover for whom this feels like a bonus rather than a chore!
