This isn't a standard room listing. You get a generous ensuite double bedroom with your own adjoining private living room, plus a separate entrance at the back of the house. The house is a characterful period property on historic Tilehouse Street, 30 seconds' walk from the town centre with its independent shops, cafes, restaurants and market. There are four pubs on the street itself, so there's no shortage of social life on your doorstep. Hitchin station is a 20 minute walk with fast trains to King's Cross in around 30 minutes. If you have a car, a visitor parking permit is available for on-street parking nearby.

The household: it's me, a friendly professional who works from home, and my partner, a nurse working in London, plus possibly one other lodger in a separate room. We're sociable but respectful of everyone's space, and since I'm home most days there's always someone around for parcels.

The terms, please read: the room is available for 3 to 6 months while a house sale completes, with one month's notice on both sides, all agreed in writing upfront. Ideal if you're relocating to the area, between homes, on a work contract or on a placement, and want somewhere genuinely comfortable rather than a stopgap.
